Have you ever wondered why do so many people have Christmas/Holiday Notebooks? Here's what About.com has to say:

Why Have a Holiday Planning Notebook?

The holiday season inevitably brings a ton of stress and confusion. There is so much to coordinate, organize, and prepare. Couple these challenges with the desire to have everything perfect, and you've got a recipe for emotional disaster. This year take some of the stress away from the season by organizing your own Holiday Planning Notebook.

Use the notebook to hold and organize all of your holiday lists, travel reservations, receipts for gifts, gift lists, recipes, etc. They will all be in one place and ready to go when you need them.

The article goes on to talk about setting up a Holiday Notebook - read more

Your planner doesn't have to large or complicated either. Its fun to put together, involve the family if you like. Kids especially would get a kick out of helping make one! :flake:

I have always had a 'plan' for Christmas but it is only the last few years that I have had the binder going.

I also have a house binder with various details in it:
Emergency contact numbers
Life/Car/House insurance details
Bank accounts
Where certain important documents are stored (birth certificates, passports, wills etc).
We also keep cards for occasions in there in case we get caught with a birthday that has slipped past without remembering (and there are always gifts in the Christmas cupboard).
Our favourite restaurant menus.
Favourite recipes in case I am not here, the boys can make them.

I've always had a notebook. In California, I had spent several years completing a multi-holiday notebook with every possible detail!

NOW, I just have a Christmas/CIJ notebook. I'm slowly building it up to my satisfaction. Later, I'll add the other holidays.

They are indespensible to me!!! :smilecc:

I really, really should have a notebook/planner! I am so disorganized!!! I also have a defect in my DNA. Both my DH and I are afflicted with this defect. Maybe some have heard of it before it's called Procrastination.
It causes much unneeded stress and even moodiness at its extreme.
I am considering making a planner.
Maybe I will start with a one week plan. Is there such a thing? See how well I do.
If i try for a month long planner, I know I will be overwhelmed.

MM - through my whole process of "getting tidy" and organized I've only ever heard of baby steps. Slow steady small steps seem to make the difference. So why try out a week and then a month. Go for it!!! :santa:

Go on MM take the plunge and have a go. Just try planning for one week and see how it goes, I'm sure things will run more smoothly, and you will want to do more.

We will all be here supporting you.

Thanks Mrs. C and Snowbelle for your support.
I will pick up a cheap notebook form the dollar store the next time I get there, over the next couple of weeks. Then I will write down what I would like to accomplish that first week. I will start it three weeks today Tues. September 2 ( that is the first day of school for my oldest 2 children). Soccer and T-Ball will be finished so I should have time in the evening as well that week.
How does this sound? :D
I set a date so I don't think this is procrastinating or is it?

Good for you and I don't think waiting until September is procrastinating and I know all about procrastinating (I've been called the Queen of Procrastination)

That is what my DH and even I have referred to myself as. Of course he is definitely King of procrastination. So we were made for each other.
