i just found you trying to figure out how early i need to head out to get a good spot to watch our upcoming santa claus parade... i've been driving my family crazy with my wreath-making and eggnog-drinking for months!

cheers

:welcome: Welcome smartygirl from just east of the Big City! I've been down to the Toronto parade a couple of times and find that for the best spots you need to be down there at least a couple of hours before it begins (depending of course on if your sitting near the start or finish of the parade).

which is better - start or finish? i'm leaning towards start, but would love to hear any thoughts on the best way to see the parade!

Welcome smartygirl!! :smilecc:
I am a couple hours east of T.O.
I went to the parade many years ago. We arrived about two hours before hand and were about the middle of parade route. Pack lots of snacks, hot drinks and wear many layers. Don't forget a blanket because even if it isn't really cold or wet, sitting or standing there for hours cools you down real quick. Have a great time! :scene:

welcome smartygirl not sure about parades.we dont have them here.usually i would find a nice shady place and plant a chair in front so no one runs in front of you.or a road curb to sit at.

I found that near the middle was best - everything seemed to be more even paced. I've been at the beginning of a few parades (not the TO Santa one) and found that there is a bit of confusion and chaos there. Plus near the middle the treats haven't run out either.
