The Stores Where You Are

How's it looking? A lot of seasonal and Christmas merchandise out? A little? None?

The retail sector where we are in England has been hit hard, what with the high unemployment rate. The stores that have survived this year seem so far to be going very conservatively. There's some Christmas merchandise out and perhaps that will increase once we're into November. But I get the feeling its going to be much more low key than in past years.

Not a bad thing, I think. Considering how many people gripe that Christmas is nothing more than a retail opportunity. Well here's your chance to get back to basics!

There are many great malls where I'm from with wonderful stores. However, I stick to my small little group of my fav stores....I rarely try out new ones unless I have the time.

So far I've seen a little bit of Christmas merchandise out there...so I can see that the holidays are slowly (but surely) creeping nearer. I know that in November stores will be carrying everything Christmas. I am looking forward to that! :smilecc:

The malls here are struggling to survive with half empty store slots. A bit depressing.

I shop alot online @ QVC, and other major stores. Walmart is essential this Christmas to save money -- I can pay $15 more for a dvd at Barnes & Noble or less at Walmart. This Christmas we are crafting more of our gifts to save costs it is a necessity -- but I like the old fashioned feel it brings to our home. That's how I grew up.......on a farm.........and I want my children to know Christmas doesn't come in a box at a store.

Christmas is Christ's birthday. So I want less commercialism, more family crafting & time spent together.

Noel, have you tried Amazon rather than Barnes & Noble? :gbhouse:

I do a lot of my shopping online at Amazon, Toys R Us, and Walmart. I also like to shop at Macy's, JcPenney, Sears, Bath & Body Works, and whatever other stores that have deals. I enjoy searching for a bargain.

Yes and don't forget QVC. They have special prices on The Joy of Christmas shows once a month!
