I saw decorations and costumes for sale here and there in the village today. That's new since last week. The weather is getting distinctly Spooky now too. *semi-evil bwahahaha!*

We don't really celebrate Halloween in the traditional sense..........just in the innocence of childhood. So my few decorations are simple and humorous and tucked among the Autumn decorations.

I am planning a party for my daughter and a few of her friends. Have been buying bits and bobs for party bags and a couple more decorations, although I already have quite a few as did the same kind of thing last year.

My daughter is getting rather excited for it now and keeps saying to me 'Mom can we talk Halloween?' So we have discussed the food, decorations and games to play. Things are coming together quite nicely at the moment.

..we used to have the apple bob and like "pin the face on the pumpkin", etc. Fall/Halloween are fun parties!!

Oh I used to love bobbing for apples!
Thanks for the reminder of that. Our youngest is turning 4 this month and I thought since it is so close to Halloween that would be the theme. Perhaps a large roasting pan out on the deck full of water and apples will work. :leafjump:

There you go - we used a metal bucket (that we picked apples in - LOL) and dunked. Not the most santiry game I guess, but we were kids - we didn't care...

Plus we loved making caramel apples and candied apples too - yummm...this is making me hungry!

What some people do instead of bobbing for apples is tie them on a string and hang them. Then the person has to keep their hands behind their back and try to bite the apple - this can be tricky as the apple swings a fair bit depending on the stiffness of the string.

I forgot about that - yep the string version works well too!

Love the idea of pin the face on the pumpkin - may have to give that one a try.

Pin the face on the pumpkin? LOL! That sounds fun!

There's pumpkins in some of the shops now. Small ones, but still very nice. Since the weather won't turn cold and stay that way, I'm going to wait til closer to month end to buy a couple to carve and display.
