We went to one night time parade last evening in a nearby town. It was lovely! Today we are off to my Sister And Brother-in-laws in Toronto. Tomorrow weather willing, we will be live on the streets of Toronto to watch the 107th Toronto Santa Claus Parade. Nothing says Christmas like the TO parade!! :snowwow: :smilecc:

MM-The Santa Claus Parade looks awesome. I know that you'll have a wonderful time making Christmas memories with your family. Hoping the weather is perfect. :smilecc:

I REALLY wanted to do some outside Christmas decorating today but it is so cold and windy. :snowwow: I can take the cold, but just can't stand the wind. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. :santa: :rudolph1:

And what's even worse is all these stores that have NEVER, EVER been open on Thanksgiving will be this year. I feel so bad for all the workers who will miss Thanksgiving with their families. Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving day. I hope that's one trend that never catches on. :razzberry:

seems like there was a craft/discount mall that opened in San Antonio one year for Thanskgiving. I do not remember if they continued after that. I went, it was very crowded. I agree, everyone should be off, as a bank teller and retail worker, I always felt cheated because everyone else was off the Friday after Thanksgiving. It make it tough to get into the "Christmas spirit". :shop:

1) It's not Thanksgiving without watching the Macy's Parade of course. Also Thanksgiving night is reserved for the Wizard of Oz. Not sure how this became a family tradition but it is.

2) My Thanksgiving table is not complete without the Turkey!!

3) With Thanksgiving dinner we enjoy drinking Pepsi Lol :D and sweet tea (the house wine of the south) These are also enjoyed at Christmas. :smilecc:

We had a family joke that any leftover tea from dinner was used for pancake syrup the next day.

My family did not drink alcohol, so tea was the common beverage at all meals. But on Christmas eve, we had homemade hot chocolate. hm..m... good. :dinner:

It's not Thanksgiving until I watch the Macy's Parade, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and the Garfield Thanksgiving specials.

My thanksgiving table is not complete without greenbean casserole and cranberry sauce! The turkey goes without saying :-).

We drink cider (hard and otherwise) during the meal.

hubby wants to try making green bean casserole. I have never been successful. If you have a fool proof recipe, post it! We have mushroom soup in tall cartons but will probably have to thicken it up with something. :dinner:

WE could try making it for Christmas too!

Busy, busy day. We had our Thanksgiving dinner at church today and it was great. We worked on a few plans for our Christmas program. When we got home we worked outside cleaning and getting ready to put up lights. :lights:

We have a chance for very bad storms and possibly tornadoes tonight and tomorrow. I'm really glad I'm late in putting my blow up Christmas decorations up outside. I'd hate for them to get torn or blown away. :snowwow:

I got an e-mail stating my Christmas cards were shipped out already and I should expect them this week. Yay! I might have them ready to mail out the day after Thanksgiving after all. :smilecc:

I have a very long list of errands that I have to run this week, and one of them is a trip to the post office to buy Christmas stamps.

Went into Stockholm´s "Old Town" yesterday and happened across a Christmas market. That was a nice surprise. We found some small swedish christmas flags that used to be used on the swedish trees in the 30's and 40's and picked up some gifts to go in the Christmas box to be mailed back to the states. A fun but tiring day.

Sounds like everyones plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming along very nicely! :smilecc:

The Toronto Santa Claus Parade was awesome! The kids loved seeing it live! They didn't even mind having to get there 3 1/2 hours early to secure a spot. My DS favourite was the bands and both DD's was Santa. Mine was a 4 way tie between the bands, the polar bear float, the looney tunes float, and the Mrs. Claus float :smilecc: We were interviewed right before the parade, so we are going to watch the rebroadcasts to see if our Christmas greetings were aired. :scene: Before the parade even began my son was asking if we could see it live again next year. I am all for it! Hopefully my hubby will be too!! :D

So glad you had fun. I will have to look for YouTube clips. I tried this logic on hubby, if we move american thanksgiving dinner to Swedish thanksgiving day (2nd Sunday of Oktober), and American Christmas starts the day after thanksgiving, then do we get to start christmas the day after Swedish Thanksgiving?? he is mulling it over.

Is the Santa Claus Parade the official start of Canadian Christmas? That could be a compromise start date for us.
