The place for Christmas and non-Christmas chatter.

I received the book The 365 Days of Christmas yesterday. I'm sad to say I was disappointed. I was hoping for a devotional day by day type thing with both spiritual insights as well as cute annecdotes, how other people celebrate, etc. That was my own mental creation and not the book description. Instead it is a series of essays on the true meaning of Christmas by a Jesuit priest. Not a bad thing and I will probably read it next Advent, just not the 'year round' christmas book for which I had hoped.

IN my family we had the 'unknown christmas present' (think 'unknown comic'). It was the last christmas present opened after the hub bub of Christmas morning. It was usually plainly wrapped and it was a great honor to open it. However, the Christmas present may or may not have been meant for the opener of the gift. All that to say, is that recieving my book yesterday was like having the honor of opening the 'unkown gift' and finding out it was a new razor for dad when you were hoping for that thing that Santa seemed to have forgotten. :razzberry: :shop: :snowwow:

Sorry you were so disappointed in the Christmas book. I have never seen a Christmas themed devotional book but If I come across one I'll be sure to post it. :holly1:

Exhausting day yesterday. So glad it's over. I did manage to sneak off between dinners and stop at the flea market. I found a pack of light green blank cards and envelopes that I'm going to use to make Easter cards out of. $1 for the whole box was a real steal. Hoping to go back and find some Christmas colors. :smilecc:

Yesterday's mail brought a great VeggieTales Easter cd that I bought on ebay. I bought it new and with shipping it was still less than half price. I love ebay. Now I need to start looking for some Christmas cds for my Sunday School kids. :smilecc:

My mother's knee surgery went well. She is still in the hospital recovering. It reminds me of the first knee surgery I had just after Christmas during my sophomore year of high school. That was an experience. On the road to recovery!!

Great dinner with friends tonight. I hadn't gotten together with all of them since the Christmas party this past year. I love those Bloomin' Onions at Outback!!

We had a great day at church. We are already making plans for our Easter celebration. I LOVE Easter......Almost as much as I LOVE Christmas! :smilecc:

Thank you for the kind words about my Mother's surgery. Unfortunately she has to stay a in the hospital a little longer. It is a good thing she's tough...after all, she raised 3 boys!! Having her back home will be like Christmas.

My thoughts and prayers are for a speedy recovery for my mother and for the people of Japan. Mom, you will be back on your feet in no time with a strong new knee. To the people of Japan, I hope those families that are separated will find each other soon. It is humbling to see how mother nature still controls us...even though some seem to see it the other way. From now on, every day will be a Christmas gift for those who will be trying to rebuild their lives.

Yesterday was St. Joseph's Day and March 25 is the Annunciation (also Waffle Day in Sweden), both Christmas milestones on the way to the celebration of Easter.

Since March 17 is my birthday, I said to my husband, 'since every 25th of the month is a 'little christmas', shouldn't the 17th of evey month be a 'little st patrick's day'? We have some wonderful gourmet irish cream coffee. I was looking for an excuse to get more as a post birthday present. :shop: :hbd:

Though my husband's birthday is April 12, the year he was born, that day fell on Good Friday, called Long Friday in Sweden. I think his mother would have agreed it was a very long friday that year indeed.

Merry Christmas in March!

Today while driving home from work I saw a yellow Volkswagon with a rudolph nose still on the hood. Somebody is keeping the Christmas spirit... or the needed it to see through the driving snow that fell today. Winter doesn't want to let go quite yet. :flake: :rudolph1:

Everybody must be super busy. No posts on here since Tuesday. We have been enjoying some beautiful Spring weather until a couple days ago and it turned winter time again. Brrrr :muffs: I got my garden tilled and I'm so ready to get planting. Don't want anymore cold weather until next Christmas! :smilecc:

We had a thunderstorm last night. The thunder and lightening woke me up then the sound of pouring down rain put me right back to sleep. :sleephat: Hopefully the rain will let up in a while and we can go look for dd a new swingset. It's her early, early birthday present. Santa forgot to bring one for Christmas.

I need to run to the post office and pick up a package. It's craft supplies I ordered for my Sunday School class. I love getting new stuff. It's just like Christmas! :shop:
