Mexicans call the poinsettia "Flower of the Holy Night" - the Holy Night is the Mexican way of saying "Christmas Eve".

“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmastime.”

:holly1: Spending my Christmas Eve at home this year. Usually we go to my Uncles house and have a big family get together but this year I decided to stay at home. With one child getting closer and closer to being out of the house I thought it was the right time to start our own Christmas traditions. :smilecc:

Bake your bread on Christmas Eve and it will remain fresh forever. If only. There is an old wives' tale that actually suggests that bread baked on Christmas Eve is mould resistant. While it cannot be known now how many people believed this, it's pretty obvious that any believers would be converted after the appearance of mould on their bread beyond 5 days or so.

If you counted all the gifts that were given in the song “Twelve Days of Christmas” you would realize that the number of gifts being presented were 364 in total, thus a gift was given for each day of the year.

Possibly changing plans and not going to aunt's house today because my brother won't make it to VT in time. We will be visiting them Monday or Tuesday morning. I will probably be hanging out with my mother and her sister this afternoon.

Right now I am watching my Patriots getting beaten badly during the first half of their football game. Where is your holiday spirit team?

Why do I always feel conflicted on this day. I feel torn between spending time with my family and family and my gf's family.
