I noticed the sumac across the road has turned orange and some are already beginning to go red. It's funny the ones on our property are green, with only a few branches starting to change colour.

The signs of Autumn are in our stores now! That's a big deal when the temperature is between 105=108F! So there are signs for me! YAY! :D

So long as you get at least some relief from the heat there Noel.

The tiny wool & craft shop in the village has quite a selection of Christmas ideas out now. I may stop in soon to see if they have anything a craft-impaired person like myself might safely tackle. I spotted a cross stich magazine this week that had a free Santa sampler included. I've not c/s'd in ages. I've plenty of embroidery floss left over from the last time I was doing it. I don't suppose it's like riding a bike; you never forget, you're just out of practice?

This is one of my favorite times of the year. Right now, I have one of my fall scented candles burning, there's a football game on in the background and if I look out the window I will see the beginnings of some color on the trees. I absolutely LOVE this time of year. :rake:

I saw a tree starting to change colour this weekend, unfortunately I didn't have the camera on me.

While out walking today, I noticed just a half mile down the hill from us, the trees are still very green and have most of their leaves. While those up the hill are turning colour and loosing leaves. Amazing how that small change in altitude and temperature affects the trees and plants!

If this can be considered a sign, I saw my hairdresser today for a cut. Someone was talking about Christmas shopping (grumbling about it is more like) which made me ask Becky if it was too early to book my Christmas appointment. Not only was it not too early, the shop's appointment diary for December was looking more than a little filled up already.

Needless to say, I made that appointment before I left.

We were out for a walk earlier and its turned cold again after that weird mild spell yesterday. There's loads of old stone walls around the village that are covered in ivy. The ivy is turning into gorgeous scarlett and gold waterfalls, cascading down the walls. Very beautiful. I wish my crappy old digicam could take a decent photo of it all before its gone.

May try to get something tomorrow to post on the Holiday Hollow blog.

It's now full dark by 7 p.m. here too.

Byron and I went to the park today. It was an overcast day, so the pictures are a tad dark.

That's gorgeous Steph! Get out and enjoy the colours while they last, as they won't be around much longer.

Kev's sister came by yesterday so we all drove out to Shropshire (a county here in England not too far from where we are) and spent the day woods walking and investigating some country pubs. I came across an evergreen tree with small red berries on it, but the needles had no scent. I'm trying to find out what type of tree it is, but I think its a species of Yew.

Oh, Merry Sage, that's the kind of day I dream about [living in the desert so far from green living things!]. It sounded wonderful............I know it revived your spirit!

The aroma of a Christmas tree is one of the best scents in the world. I've bought so many types for an artificial :holly1: tree but they never smell the same! Love that holly & ivy too!

It did indeed. I'm so not a city dweller. We don't live in a city, but there's a lot of traffic and not much green space where we do live right now. My first choice for location is always on the coast, but the country suits me down to the ground too.

Its gone wet and windy here so the trees are looking a lot barer than earlier this month. Autumn has truly set in and Winter isn't far round the corner. Clocks go back an hour here this weekend too.

It's been windy and rainy the past few days. This keeps up the trees will be bare of leaves in no time. Except for the oaks they keep many of their leaves til the spring.
