Hello to all my Christmas buddies,

I am finding it really hard to get back into work mode after being off for four weeks over Chrismas this year. I just want to lay around and read a good book and enjoy the summer (although it is very hot at the moment).

I was watching with interest this morning as your new President took the reins of your country. I hope all that his plans all come to fruition for you all -it sounds like he has a big job ahead of him and his team.

Yes, I am having a hard time feeling like Christmas happened at all. But..........there is always next Christmas, I hope!

Noel - I'm feeling a bit that way myself. Although with my Christmas decorations still up; I'm more wondering when Christmas will be rather than did it happen.

Jodie - you gave me a great idea. I'll start a thread about the US inauguration. Apparently, people all over the world were watching.

Something quite strange is happening with my internet access. Earlier today I had no problem going anywhere on the world wide web, but no I can only access Christmas All Year sites. Very odd. I can't check my bank balance, but I can celebrate Christmas!

Mrs. C.--What if Santa's elves broke into his secret stash of eggnog and they've decided to fix all the computers in the world so they will only access Christmas sites. Now that would be too cool.

Good idea Mrs C - I would love to know more about Barrack Obama and what the US citizens think of him. He seems very young for the position he is in. Maybe that is what the USA needs, some young blood with refreshed ideas.

I like the fact that our Prime Minister (Kevin Rudd) is always away and his second in charge is a woman, Julia Gillard has been acting PM a lot while our guy races around the world to make friends. She has some great ideas and is an inspiration to women all over our country that you can be anything you want to be.

Well Christmas is a while off but I keep telling myself that I have a whole year of events to keep me busy and entertained until we get there.

There is always Christmas in July - it is such a welcome time in our home. A time to get together with all our friends that we don't get to see at Christmas time. Also gives us the opportunity to have a cold Christmas because it is usually so hot here at Christmas time.

I ordered 2 scrapbooking kits from the Lakeside Collection. One is just Christmas and the other is for every season and holiday. The are both just wonderful. The papers are just so vibrant. I can not wait to use them!

I was telling the girls that this weekend we really do need to take down our Christmas decorations and they both said, "Why can't we leave them up all year?" And the oldest even said, "And mom you have the website Christmas All Year why not keep them up all year." I told them that if they were up all year, the "specialness" of them would fade and it would take a bit of that something special away from the Christmas season. Hubby said they just didn't want to do the work of taking everything down. Too funny!

Actually, Mrs. C, if we had room, I would leave my decorated Christmas trees up in a back room for next year!

My DH just said, "yeah, sure, and then you'd want to change the theme or colors or something and undecorate it first!"

You know Noel, I would probably want to change it up too, just for variety and because I probably bought something more to add to it.

When it was just hubby and me and we were renting a house, we left the tree up with the lights on (I had to take the decorations off so they wouldn't break when moving it) in the furnace room, but we moved out a couple of months before the next Christmas and had to take it all the way down anyway. But the thought was there.

You know Noel, I would probably want to change it up too, just for variety and because I probably bought something more to add to it.

The furnace room is the place we stored our family room Christmas tree this year. DMIL suggested putting it there. The box was falling apart and the tree is older and isn't looking as nice as it once did. It's harder to get it up and keep all the branches on. We took the decorations off (the lights are attached) and DH squeezed it into the furnace room. Too bad our furnace room isn't larger I would store our other artificial tree there as well.

I was cleaning in one of my guest bedrooms today and I noticed a Christmas snowglobe that I had forgotten and left on the nightstand. At first I thought I should pack it away. Then I decided to just leave it there...as a remembrance for the Christmas that has past and as inspiration for the next one.

I smiled when I read your post, CandyKane! I love finding Christmas treasures hidden throughout the house during the year! My children purposely hide some for Easter! LOL!

Well tomorrow's the big day - taking down the Christmas tree. Not sure if my kids are into it, but wish me luck.

Today we went to see Inkheart and we loved it. It's not like the book, but I went into knowing it wouldn't be, so I would not be disappointed. I haven't finished reading it to the kids yet, but they noticed right away that it wasn't like the book and accepted it. The movie was well done, although I think you need to know a bit about the characters before you go because there's not that much room for character development. We had some great discussions afterwards, so it was well worth it! Anyone else see it?

Thanks for the review on Inkheart. I would really like to take the kids to see it, probably have to wait until it comes out on DVD though. Right now it's hockey,hockey, and more hockey with a night of Sparks thrown in. LOL I do love watching DS learn and play. Just not much time left for other stuff.

We're expecting a major ice storm to move in here in the next few hours. It should last all through tomorrow too. We'll definitely lose power, the only question is for how long. I went to the grocery store this morning to stock up on a few things. And hubby does have a generator so hopefully we'll get by ok.

Maybe this will be a good time to work on some of my crafts including some scrapbook layouts and Christmas cards. Having something Christmas related to do should help keep me cheered up.

I hope you don't lose power. That's great that you have a generator though.
