first year we have seen Easter bread! It tastes just like Christmas bread! In medieval times, the bread guilds only allowed the sell of gingerbread at christmas AND easter. somewhere along the way, it became just tradition to have it only at Christmas. We bought a loaf and will go back tomorrow and buy another one to encourage them to have it again. We also have two loaves of Christmas bread frozen for Christmas in July.

Good tradition! We need that one in the US too. Gingerbread for Christmas & Easter is a real treat! :D

My brother is driving up to spend part of Good Friday with family. I am making Passover Pie courtesy Jollys' inspiration. We have service tonight which is a blessing. So very much to be grateful to God including all my Christmas friends. Easter blessings!

The Passover Pie was a hit with we adults. The kidfos made lemon juice faces & had leftovers. Jolly it was a little "wet" (tunny) as grandma used to say. But also memorable. I can adjust the recipes a bit next year. It deepened our experience to think we ate much of what Jesus ate on his last day.

Blessings everyone on Easter morn!

Sorry about that. sometimes the recipe conversions lack something in the translation. Since it is mostly eggs, it could Always be microwaved on the plates to desired consistency. Yes, lamb is an "adult" taste I Think. I did not grow up eating it so not sure I would have liked it as a Child. Next year, you can make some ramkins of the egg mix minus the lamb for the kids and that might take care of both of your problems. Wish I was there to help. Swedish quiche plates are very short so could be your egg layer was too Thick to Cook all the way through.....Perky said could also be the oven temperature might not have translated well. I can have a look at the recipe again if you like. :dinner:

Had a bit of snow on the way to early easter service, it did not stick, but reminded us of Christmas. :snowwow:

Happy Easter Morning to all our Christmas friends.

forgot to mention, I Used to make apple chutney to go with the passover pie. A messianic friend denies that chutney and haroseth are the same thing, but my apple chutney sure tastes like what I have had a passover feasts in the past. I was telling hubby that Swedish tunnel bread is very similar to matza (sp) and that the tunnel bread with chutney and horseradish is very similar to a part of the passover ceremony where you sort of make a sandwich to represent the mortar. We do not perform a whole passover as we feel it is inappropriate, but we have read the genesis account, followed by the Lord supper account as a remembrance when we do not go to Church that night. A part of the ceremony that is fun for kids is the tellign of the plagues and the dotting of a plate with wine (grape juice). It is fun and helps them "Count" each of the plagues. It can be as simple or meaningful as you make it.

My aunt said for this year, they just made pancake bunnies for the kids and left them to themselves. Their understanding will grow with their taste for lamb.

Happy Easter to my christmas friends!

Merry Christmas Monday! Easter Monday is a holiday here, so it will be doubly hard to go to work tomorrow. Perky got a job lead at Church on Thursday, pray it pans out!

actually if I had a choice, I would come to work on Monday and be off on Friday. It has been the experience during most of my working life that if one does not have Monday on Monday, one has Monday all week which is no Christmas fun. I also find that being in when others are not is also an advantage and counts as double "vacation" days.

We enjoyed a wonderful Easter with family and our church family. I got up early to cook for dinner at church and it felt like Christmas. :holly1: Dd was the only girl in her age group at the egg hunt and all the little boys gave her their eggs. It was sweet. :angelsnow:

If you have Easter pictures and need prints made you can get 101 free 4x6 prints from shutterfly with the code CARROT. You pay shipping which I believe on 101 prints is $7.99 but if you order 99 prints it's only $5.99. Today's the last day for this great deal. Pictures make great Christmas gifts! :shop:
