Do you think they'll get political or keep it 100% Christmas?

Image

I won't watch it but I hope they keep it 100% Christmas. Otherwise, if I were watching, the off button would be quickly following. I think actors and musicians should voice their opinions only outside of "work" like anyone else. Let's just focus on Christmas.

Well we no longer watch award shows due to the fierce politicization by music artists, Hollywood, and coastal elites. Like NFL now, we just don't tune in or quickly turn away once it starts. What happened to the average American being able to enjoy some awards or sports show without a hassle?! Christmas humbuggers.

So true. At least you can watch a Nascar race with everyone standing during the national anthem and most with their hands on their hearts. Plus they will also say a prayer in Jesus' name. Those are the kind of folks I could have Christmas with.

I chopped this for the sake of length. That always confuses me. I was not taught to put the hand over the heart for the national anthem. I grew up in the 70's and graduated in 1983. We stood for the national anthem, hands at sides, and put hand over the heart for the pledge. I don't seem to remember anyone doing it until after 9/11. Either way, we can all look forward to Christmas!

As long as people are at least respectful during the national anthem, it's all well and good with me. But... According to US Code (Title 36 › Subtitle I › Part A › Chapter 3 › § 301) you are to put your right hand over your heart during the national anthem. Which then makes me wonder. What do the people of Sweden do during their national anthem?

And just for grins...
According to US Code (Title 36 › Subtitle I › Part A › Chapter 3 › § 302)
The national motto is "In God We Trust".

According to US Code (Title 36 › Subtitle I › Part A › Chapter 3 › § 303)
The rose is the national floral emblem.

According to US Code (Title 5 › Part III › Subpart E › Chapter 61 › Subchapter I › § 6103)
Christmas is a legal holiday.

People in Sweden just stand for the national Anthem, no other gesture. I suppose at Sporting event some raise their beverage glasses presumably with beer. There is no pledge to the flag. Perky says the closest thing is an oath the Soldiers take when they go into the military. Christmas is also a "flag day" in Sweden.

Thanks for the legislative reminders Christmas Crazy and Jolly. I find it interesting. Sadly young people are not taught these lessons by teacher or experience in school anymore. They neither respect or cherish the pledge or anthem. How do they love what they do not understand.

We sure are getting close to the Christmas season. Christmas movies start in 15 days on Hallmark. And Thanksgiving is only 42 days away. Nearly every store we went into this past weekend had Christmas items displayed. It won't be long now.
