There is a swedish video showing a family taking down the Christmas tree. You get to see the swedish flags on the tree (I thought we were the only ones still doing this), the straw star, and the lights shaped like candles. Monday is St. Knuts Day and the official end of Christmas. We did some cleaning and have starting taking a few things down. We had the end of christmas popcorn and hot chocolate with lunch.

Thanks! Jolly. That was an interesting Christmas video to see.

BTW: we're having the last of hot cocoa with caramel tonight too!

Have been spending the day taking stuff down. The only thing I have left for today is the nativity set. I found that in leaving it up all year, it actually "lost" something and I missed the act of putting it out, so this year, it goes back in the box. The lights will stay in the window and the swedish flags will stay up until tomorrow. I asked hubby if the swedish christmas police would come around and check. He still has the swedish tree up in the living room. I decided to throw all garland away. It has seen better days and one of the cats has taken to eating it. I am not sure why, we have had her for two years (three christmasses) and two Christmas in Julys. She took notice of the garland the first time around, but then ignored it until this year. We hope to make bunting instead which she ignores. My little kitchen tree is put away to be reincarnated in a few months as a Christmas in July tree. It is fun to look for summer Christmas decorations on ebay. Tomorrow as department janitor, I will go around and collect the christmas lights there too. Now that we have snow I can continue to wear pink snow man t shirt. They already think I am weird.

Glad Knutsdagen! Christmas is now over in Sweden. It is the official "undecorating day". Strangely, many in my department are "working at home" today. When I get a bit of clout, I should like to do the same thing. Daycares are reopening and many are having their post-Christmas parties with dancing around the Christmas tree before it is dismantled. I have taken up the lights at work but left my storage key at home, so they sit in my office looking sad and forlorn.

I watched a movie yesterday called Christmas Without Snow from the late 70´s. It has not gotten great reviews on amazon, but neither is it the sappy happy Christmas movie people have come to expect, though it is heartwarming. The story surrounds two things Michael Learned (The Waltons) plays a recently divorced woman on her own in San Francisco trying to make a life for herself. The other half of the story surrounds a church choir production of The Messiah. It is alot of melodrama, but if you have ever been on the real "inside" of a church, you recognize all the elements. Another nice surprise is John Houseman as the choir director and Jamie Cromwell (VERY young) as the parish priest. I would highly recommend it but it is probably not very entertaining for the youngsters. I have often commented on my almost being sickened by the "family" christmas movies the first year after my divorce. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who has had a recent loss but still wants to see something "christmas". It shows the "christmas spirit" but does present it in such a way that life has to be perfect to experience a good christmas. Ok, off my soap box.

brain dead after a hard day at work and typed in "goodbye Christmas" on YouTube and this popped up. It is really cute! Anyone have any favorite end of christmas songs or music? Prior to this I was singing goodbye Christmas with Bing!

I still have all of our Christmas decorations in the basement. It is a nice reminder that I still have it put then away. A home up the street still has their large christmas tree decorated.

There was a period of about 6 years in my former life when I worked two jobs. We did Christmas really big because my family came over for Christmas eve. One year, I think it was up until March and the Christmas boxes lived in the den a whole year because the ex could not manage to find time to help me put them in the garage. :scene:

Good morning everyone. I am looking into transitioning into another job again. I realize that finding this last job was a great Christmas present this year, but I have come to the realization that being a classroom teacher is just not the right fit for me. I need to find something that doesn't make me so stressed out because I am nervous and anxious about it constantly.

I know that training adults around technology has been so thing that I have done well with, enjoy, and felt confident about. That is my passion.
