I was browsing some other Christmas sites when I was reminded of the Merry Top 50. That got me wondering about what happened to our rankings in the Merry Top 50. Did we just stop doing it?? I know we used to have a link at the bottom of the page.

I got a new Christmas craft book in the mail today. It has a lot of great ideas and recipes. I don't know if I'll have time to make many things this year. I do have several cards that I finished earlier in the year. I have also started a couple of cross-stich projects--a manger scene and some small gift bags. :santa: :elf: :gbhouse:

The other day I went shopping for a new coat for DS. I searched high and low at countless bargain stores, finally finding an acceptable one at a somewhat reasonable price. During my travels I went to a store called Liquidation World. Much to my surprise they had an aisle of assorted Christmas items. :smilecc:
I purchased Christmas craft kits enough for 6 kids, a bag of assorted Christmas foam shapes and three Christmas boxes. Cost $4.00
I still can't believe I found a store with Christmas items already on sale.

You could not ask for a more perfect Fall day than the one that we are enjoying today. Such a welcome break from all the rain. 8-)

I got a Lillian Vernon Christmas catalog in the mail today. So many cute things. They have a personalized 'peas in a pod' ornament that I just have to have. Plus you get a free bear ornament just for ordering. I love the free ornaments that you get when you order from different companies. I have quite a collection of them.

My oldest daughter is in the midst of having her 10th birthday sleepover party. Hubby and I are now upstairs while all the girls (5 in total) are in the living room camping out watching (hopefully falling asleep) a movie.

We had a bead craft to do and of course my example had to be a Christmas one - Santa Claus

I've hidden all of the gifts I've gotten for Christmas in my grandparents basement. I am crossing my fingers that the gifts won't start dusting up. However, I am getting more and more excited as each days goes by and we get that much closer to Christmas. Honestly, I will be most excited when we reach the November month and/or when snow begins to fall. :snowhappy2:

I took dd to have her portraits made yesterday. They should be ready to pick up by mid October. I spent way more than I planned but I can justify the cost because I'll be giving some for Christmas gifts. :shop: :toychase:

After church today we stopped by the Dollar General Store. They had three aisles of Christmas stuff. Some things are still in boxes where they are just putting it out. I have to go back tomorrow when I have time to look at everything. :blinky1:

Today at church, they kicked off the Operation Christmas Child campaign - it's shoebox time!!! It's always fun for the girls to pick out things to go in the boxes.

Its shoebox time at our church too Mrs. C! This is my fave Christmas charity but we work on it all year long. Tomorrow I work 16 hrs -- so it'll have to wait a couple of days to stock up for the holidays. :peekleaves2:

Thanks for the reminder on Operation Christmas Child. :smilecc:
It truly is the beginning of the Christmas season for us now. I always forget how early the boxes have to be ready so they can make it to the little ones in time for Christmas.

My wife is thinking about having her Girl Scout troop do the shoeboxes this year as their community service project, she always try to have her girls do something to show them there is more to life than cell phones, and the internet, that helping people can make them feel good too.

Anyway, we have a cold front coming through and we are going to have a few days that might not even get to 60 degrees and some nights that will be down in the upper 30's lower 40's. It just makes me feel more in the Christmas mood knowing that the temps are changing. :peekleaves2: :smilecc:

THANK YOU for the reminder about Operation Christmas Child. I am ashamed to say that I had completely forgotten about this. I just went to the website and printed off the materials for it. I thought we could do this in my Sunday School class. Since I have the preschool class I thought we could do at least 2 boxes, one boy and one girl, in the 2 to 4 age range. (Hopefully we can do more) I printed materials for the other class too and I'm sure they'll do it too. Now I'm so excited. I have a new Christmas project to work on. Thanks! :smilecc:

Recently I've noticed many Christmas items that are being sold now, even catalogues are getting sent to my door step. :snowwow:

Today I bought about $10 worth of Halloween goodies for the children that coming trick or treating this year. I got large Halloween themed items like huge pencils, little spooky image projectors, yo yo's and stuff like that. I am excited for the day to come....not just because of seeing the kids' faces when they get their 'loot' but also because we will be basically in the NOVEMBER MONTH! Which means, Christmas tree time and Christmas movies for me! :smilecc: :scene: :balloons:

Just dropping by for my daily dose of Christmas Cheer. I've been looking through my Oriental Trading catalogs tying to pick out some Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas craft kits. I prefer their catalogs to their website cause they have so much great stuff that it's just overwhelming. I also got a Personal Creations catalog in the mail yesterday. There are lots of really nice Christmas items in it. www.personalcreations.com :smilecc:
