The dollar stores here are devoid of Christmas items. There are a few Autumn items, but mostly Halloween. I went to 3 stores in search of new Christmas decor............ah, well, it is coming! :D

That's funny Noel cause the dollar stores here are usually the first stores to put out Christmas stuff.

I saw an old friend today that I haven't seen in over 18 years. It's so funny how 18 years seemed like just yesterday and we picked up right where we left off. I guess good friendships really do last forever. :smilecc:

Arkansas got it's first state lottery this week and today I bought my first lottery tickets. I spent 2 dollars and won 3 dollars. Hubby told me to quit while I am ahead. I think lottery tickets would make nice Christmas stocking stuffers. :smilecc:

I got a letter from our local food bank today. They have kicked off their Thanksgiving and Christmas campaigns. I think I'll break into my Christmas charity savings jar and go ahead and send them a donation.

I need to make an appointment to get dd's Christmas portraits made. I can't decide where to go this year. The last 2 years I have used Olan Mills studios. Great pictures but it's along way to travel. I might use the Wal-Mart studio for a change. :scene:

There's a new VeggieTales Christmas movie available for pre-order at Amazon. (Release date October 6)

Also www.packagefromsanta.com is taking orders now. They have some really cute letters. Check out the personalized letter from Rudolph and the photo of baby Rudolph. Too cute. :rudolph:

Dd and I both came down with a stomach bug last night. Luckily it's just a 24 hour bug but it's been a very rough 24 hours for both of us. We're doing much better now though and I'm so thankful.

I didn't get any Christmas catalogs in the mail today. :| I did get a birthday party invitation for dd's 'best friend'. She'll be 2 in a couple weeks. It gives me a good excuse to go shopping and see if there's any new Christmas stuff in the stores. :shop:

Tonight I baked/decorated some pumpkin shaped-sugar cookies for the kids and that put my exhausted body/mind in an Autumn mood!

No Christmas catalog today -- maybe tomorrow! :smilecc:

Oh, and Noel....my dollar store doesn't have any Christmas stuff in it yet either. However, I went last week and there were 2 aisles full of Halloween stuff. I then went yesterday and one aisle that had previously been full of summer/halloween stuff was taken down. It is currently empty and I am holding my breath that it is Christmas stuff that they are going to fill that aisle with.

I am so glad the local food bank will be getting support this holiday. :muffs: I am helping World Vision out but by the same way as always (continuing my child sponsorship). However, I may decided to buy something off the gift catalogue (World Vision Gift Catalogue) like textbooks for a classroom, warm clothing for 10 children or stocking a medical clinic. There are many great gifts there that you can give on behalf of a person on our x-mas lift (as a gift from you to them)...or just as a good deed. :holly1: There are many great charities out there though so I'm not trying to push anyone into joining World Vision. I'm planning on also helping with the shoebox idea (for one girl and one boy) and donating food to the food bank. I want to help as much as I can...and only hope it makes a little difference in someone else's life....

Hubby got the new Craftsman Tool Christmas catalog in the mail today. Now he'll be easy to shop for. He always shows me the stuff that he wants and says "Now I'm not asking you to buy this for me, just showing it to you because it's such a great deal."lol

Your husband sounds hilarious....maybe I should try that out with my parents on Christmas, 'you see this phone...I'm not asking you for it, I'm just showing you what a great deal this is.'
