So, who's up for Christmas in July? Christmas Crazy, did you come up with a plan? It seems like there are more and more events every year. At the very least you can take Michelle to a Hallmark store and out to lunch. While I could still get cruise reservations, hubby was not able to move his missed vacation days to Christmas in July, so we go with plan A and will just go out to eat. Strange as it may sound, the Lebanese restaurant across the street does a great Hawaiian pork filet. WE do Hawaiian for Christmas in July and a friend sent me a recipe for Hawaiian coconut jello she made for her daughter's birthday party. Might give it a try! Christmas in July is just around the corner!

No plans at this time. We are very busy through the middle of August. Although, for the first time ever, Michelle and I did watch some Hallmark Christmas movies together this past Sunday. That is, the first time ever in July that Michelle has watched a Christmas movie. And she recorded a few extra Christmas movies on the DVR. She may be converting to a Christmas All Year fan. Maybe we'll watch them on the 25th.

We do music/movies, a few decorations-just enough to be festive, usually have one nice meal and experiment with food, etc. Hubby is one of those who gives gifts all year round so I don't try to do anything special for Christmas in July anymore. The Christmas in July bag is the best thing I ever came up with. It is an oversized softsided bag that has the Hawaiian themed Christmas ornaments, some garland, a few banners, etc. It also functions as the emergency Christmas bag when I am ready to decorate in December and hubby is not up to bringing up the big boxes from the basement. I also try to be sneaking and wear "Christmas" clothes. Fortunately, swedes do not automatically think "Christmas" when you wear red and green, so I have a few red/green scarves I mix in with my clothes and non-Christmas red/green earrings, etc.

Now that sounds like a plan! You could even make turkey Burgers for dinner. There are some great recipes on http://www.tasteofhome.com. Don't even tell her it's "christmas food" just incororate a few flavors. Turkey Burgers, sweet potato fries, cranberry Mayo..........the ex hated Christmas when it was Christmas so I made a game out of getting around him. Not a Life I recommend, but it saved my sanity.

When is QVC Christmas in July? I checked the website and I can see some items for sale but not the dates of the television broadcast. It makes for great background on the computer.

Watching, or rather listening, to a cute Christmas movie on YouTube. Christmas Every Day, have to watch it again when I can really pay attention (I am at work).

I found it on their program schedule. Strange, you would think they would have a big Christmas in July announcement on the main webpage. I remember when it used to be July 24-25 and a friend of mine would stay home from work to watch it. LOL

Yeah, it just does not feel right when QVC Christmas in July is not on the 24-25 anymore. I used to leave it on all night and dose during it. Since it is on the weekend, it feels llike less of an "event". No excuse for Days off.

I was in the Dollar Store earlier and they have some Halloween stuff out already. I have never seen Halloween in July. Christmas items will start showing up any time now. :shop:

Merry Friday Christmas! Only 2 days away from the start of Christmas in July in the O'Leary household! Since hubby is not up to helping with the shopping yet, I am thinking of declaring it a "holiday" and leaving work early so I can go home and get the drag along (shopping is such an ordeal in Europe) since I have to do it in two trips (second on Sunday). I want to get the supplies I need to make Hawaiian macaroni salad and the coconut jello tomorrow, so they are ready to go on Sunday.

We (I) will decorate on Sunday as that is the "official" start. Then I will make Hawaiian bbq chicken, rice, the macaroni salad, and coconut jello for the kick off. We used to only have a "Hawaiian" dinner on the Saturday during Christmas in July week, but every year I find more and more recipes I want to try. This year, I am making a folder so they will all be together for future years. A friend found a great site with relative authentic recipes for her child's birthday party and it has been great fun. I downloaded a recipe for spam fried rice which we will make with Swedish sausage instead, but it should be good for a couple of weeknight meals. I am on vacation Thursday and Friday. We talked about taking a boat ride to a nearby island for a Christmas in july lunch, but hubby still gets tired easily. He made it 4 days with no problem, but is not doing well today. He is still recovering.

Thinking cold thoughts on this hot July day: What is your favorite Christmas movie that takes place AT the North Pole? Off the top of my head, I would have to say Santa Clause 3
