How is everyone's planning going for Christmas? Anyone start buying gifts/making cards?

Time is just flying! :sled:

Christmas Eggnog you must let us know if you get any snow! How thrilling! :snowwow:
There is a mention of flurries possibly later this week. I will be pumping out the Christmas carols even more if we do.

Yes, mistletoe misfit....I will no doubt let you know when it begins to snow here. The temperature is very cold so I am expecting it anytime soon! :snovel:

Christmas_Eggnog--I sure hope that you get the snow that you're wishing for! :snowwow: :flake: The US weather map shows a big patch of snow up north. All we're getting is a cold drizzling rain. All this talk of snow makes me wish for a White Christmas. :gbhouse: :snowtree:

We've started planning our church Christmas program. I stopped by the church this morning and went through some boxes of costumes and decorations. All the costumes are way too big for our kids. Luckily we have a lady in our congregation who is an excellant seamstress and she has volunteered to make all the things that we need. She looked at what we have and said she shouldn't have any problem altering them to fit our kids. WooHoo. Our plans are starting to come together. :merrysleigh:

My turkey turned out well. I am still feeling a little full.
We will be having left overs for a few days.
I guess the next time I will be cooking a turkey it will be Christmas eve. :treewiggle:

Glad to know ya'll had a happy Canadian Thanksgiving!!! :snowwow:

It is Columbus Day in America - a day off - holiday. I had a long 'to do' list that is still sitting on my computer table! Instead I nodded off several times while we watched television. Lazy or much- needed rest -- not sure.

Christmas seems far away here as they predict over 100F temps again this week. I watched QVC fashion today for a while but just couldn't get in the mood for Autumn clothes with the A/C running all afternoon

Tomorrow the work week starts again. Need to shop for my manager's baby shower on Saturday - its the busiest time of the year from now on! :smilecc:

Temps are falling here, the weatherman says we won't get out of the 40's this weekend, with a chance of some flurries overnight Friday, all this talk of cold weather has really gotten me in the Christmas mood, I have been out doing what I can for other people when I can just to get the good Christmas feeling inside me.

Hockey season begins for us tonight. DS first practice tonight and DD7 first practice Friday night. And so the living and freezing in the arenas begin
Christmas will feel even closer tonight with us being all bundled up in our winter coats and boots. :D

Back from hockey, still trying to thaw out from the experience.
I will grow a tolerance and build up some resistance to the chill as we spend more time there. I did last year, by the middle of the season I hardly noticed the frozen fingers and numb toes.
I think I will plug in the ear phones and listen to some Christmas carols. :carolbells:

It's not raining here. That's really big news since it has poured down for the last 2 days. Forecast was for rain today and tomorrow, now it's changed to just a slight chance with lots of clouds, and we might even have sunshine on Friday. 8-) Woohoo. Maybe my outside Halloween decorations will dry out. :pumpkin:

I picked up dd's "antique" portraits yesterday. I spent WAY TOO MUCH on them, but I had to buy the whole package. That's my baby and every pic is beautiful to me so I had to have them all. The good news is that I get a free set of photo Christmas cards with my package. I'm so excited! :snowjump:

The Christmas movies I bought from ebay were delivered today! I also got a Family Fun magazine in the mail. It has lots of Christmas stuff including some toy ideas. Their top toy pick is a Bristlebot---a tiny robot on a toothbrush! I had never heard of these but I found them on Amazon. What will they think of next. I actually think these would be a fun gift. Also at www.Familyfun.com/magazine you can find lots of great holiday ideas and free printables. :smilecc: :D

Hi
I was wondering if anyone has made the pomander at Christmas time.
I was thinking of doing some with the kids, maybe using clementines instead of oranges. Any helpful hints, suggestions or what not to do tips would be greatly appreciated. :treewiggle:

I went shopping today and put a few things on lay-a-way. :shop: I found dd a really big wagon and a kid-friendly digital camera. She loves my camera so I know she'll like it. I thought the wagon would be perfect for Santa to put under her tree and he can fill it with her other Christmas gifts. :santa:

I got a Christmas toy catalog in the mail and it has a Shrinky Dinks Holiday Fun Kit. I used to love Shrinky Dinks. You color and bake them then assemble a small tinsel tree and use the Shrinky Dinks to decorate it. I love it! I'm really tempted to get it for myself.

CandyKane Shrinky Dinks are such fun! :smilecc: You should definitely get some, nothing wrong with being a kid again for awhile. :smilecc:
The dollar store in a nearby town usually stocks Christmas Shrinky Dinks starting in November. :D

You're absolutely right Mistletoe MIsfit. There is nothing wrong with being a kid again at Christmas time. I especially like finding all the "retro" toys that I had as a child. :smilecc:

I got an email about my Disney Movie Club Rewards points. I had completely forgotten about them. I'm going to go to their site and see if I want to cash in my points for some Christmas gifts. :shop:

After work today, I went baby shower shopping at Target. They had sold out of all Halloween decorations, but did have costumes. I need spider web in colors and some bats/ghosts/pumpkins. Off to Walmart tomorrow after work!

The Christmas onezies were out for babies! I bought the cutest ones for Grandma & Grandpa! Just delighted! :flake:
