as usual the heat has derailled (?) my Chrismtas in July plans. This is often the hottest week of the year and we are supposed to be worse by the end of the week. No energy to do anything. We live in Dutch ovens designed to hold in any heat it gets during the Winter, which Cooks us in summer. I swear I feel like I am being turned into roadkill stew as we speak. I am thinking we might change to Christmas in June since it might be cooler...........trying to Think cool Christmas thoughts. How I miss AC

Had a blessed thunderstorm around midday that both cooled things off to livable and lessened my headache. I now feel like cool roadkill stew. We made haupia (hawaiian coconut jello). The jury is out on how well it will turn out and hawaiian macaroni (pasta) salad for tomorrow and hubby brought up the Christmas in July bag from the basement. So, Christmas in July is back on track!

forgot all about that. Had headache all last night and could not open Eyes. Hubby brought up the Christmas in July bag but said the tree got tossed in the move. Oh well, we can get Another one this year. It does not even need to have electricity since we do not use it that way. So, decorating will be a minimum as I had tossed out the garland too. Had an excellent dinner out including an ice Cream sundae with a cute Little umbrella to be followed by Aloha Scooby Doo as our "soft start" to Christmas in July!

Poor Perky thought that all Americans celebrated Christmas in July with a Hawaiian theme. Poor guy, I had him fooled. It was not intentional. I said no, it was a "Jennifer" thing and became solidifed when I started collecting hawaiian themed decorations. Christmas in August is subject to change since it has only the Merry Christmas sign and banner as decorations. :scene:

Well, I guess Michelle is not in any kind of Christmas mood. We were flipping thru the channel listings and I saw and pointed out the QVC Christmas Show. She just rolled her eyes and said people are crazy. I just smiled and thought "Yep, Christmas Crazy!".

hm.......see if anyone put out Christmas in July ice Cream this year. Or, in worst case, take 2 gallons or pints of vanilla ice Cream. slightly melt one, add crushed peppermint, and refreeze. take the other one, slightly melt so you can stir it, add cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, etc for a gingerbread taste, and refreeze, then get a chocolate ice Cream. In a day or so, make her a "christmas in july" sundae with a scoop of each in a glass, add whipped topping, some fudge, a nice tropical umbrella (red or green if possible), a red and/or green Cherry and give it to her when the heat is unbearable with a big smile and a "Merry Christmas in July". I doubt she will resists. As we say in Texas, there is more than one way to skin a cat. ;-)

Put up a few decorations and the Place looks more festive. Since the Little tree got trashed, I hung the hawaiian garland on my book shelf and put the Starfish ornament in the middle of the book case and the Little hawaiian christmas ornaments are hanging from the cabinet doorknobs. It is slightly inconvenient, but only for a week. My wooden "Merrry Christmas" sign my parents sent from Texas may have also gotten lost in the move, but that is okay. We can probably get Another one when we visit in November. The hawaiian haupia (coconut jello) and hawaiian pasta salad were TERRIFIC at the lunchtime tastes test. Looking forward to our kick off dinner later.

Well the Grinch is residing in my DHs heart today. He has a massive case of reflux after indulging in too many Christmas in July goodies. So....he says no ordering from QVC. Oh well ... it will pass when he feels better. And we do have many Christmas decorations. I just love more.

We also got out the Christmas toilet paper and paper towels I had squirreled away and managed not to lose in the move and hubby had his first Christmas beer. He has 3 left for the week now. I am drinking Christmas coffee at work. I had forgotten that I saved some. I am smarter than I thought I was.............it will be a very hot week. We are getting a heatwave from Spain. They can keep it. NO AC in Europe. Trying to think cool Christmas thoughts. We have not seen Frozen but it seemed all the rage on the QVC shows. Maybe we will see if we can rent it. It sounds good right about now......... :snowwow:
