Stephanie Your angel is beautiful! :angelmerry:
I love the tinsel on your tree, it reminds me of our Christmas trees when I was growing up. We always had tons of tinsel. I would really love to have it on our trees now but I am to nervous with the cats and also the little ones I take care of.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful tree with us! :merrytree:

Stephanie--You're Christmas tree really is lovely. I carried my tree up from the basement today. I won't be putting it up until Thanksgiving night, but I thought I'd start getting everything ready. :treewiggle:

As early as 1822, the postmaster in Washington, D.C. was worried by the amount of extra mail at Christmas time. His preferred solution to the problem was to limit by law the number of cards a person could send. Even though commercial cards were not available at that time, people were already sending so many home-made cards that sixteen extra postmen had to be hired in the city.

According to historical accounts, the first Christmas in the Philippines was celebrated 200 years before Ferdinand Magellan discovered the country for the western world, likely between the years 1280 and 1320 AD.

According to a 1995 survey, 7 out of 10 British dogs get Christmas gifts from their doting owners.

And according to a 2009 survey of my house 3 out of 3 dogs will be getting Christmas gifts from me.

I went shopping at Wal-Mart today. I bought the cutest little blue and silver tinsel Christmas tree. Now I just have to decide where to put it. :treehat:

If you received all of the gifts in the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas", you would receive 364 presents.

Clearing up a common misconception, in Greek, X means Christ. That is where the word "X-Mas" comes from. Not because someone took the "Christ" out of Christmas.

We are off to hockey in an hour. When we return this afternoon I am going to go to our village Christmas sale and also to the church bazaar. I am really looking forward to the sale at our town hall. I have heard they have done a beautiful job decorating it for Christmas.

Getting ready to start work, can't believe we are almost a month away from Christmas, where has the time gone, anyway, was able to get some cleaning done today to get ready for Turkey Day, my wife's brother and his wife are coming in this weekend as well, so it will be nice to have more people in for the holiday. CandyKane, thank you for the lesson there on the X in X-mas.

Today has been a really busy day. I got a lot of my inside Christmas decorating done. We put up dd's pink tree although we haven't decorated it yet.

One of the discount stores here is not going to have their traditional Black Friday sale this year. Instead starting today they have put all their Christmas merchandise on sale, some is even clearance priced. I went and bought some really good stuff cheap. :shop:

There are 2 Christmas Islands: One in the Pacific Ocean and one in the Indian Ocean.

Christmas is a time for decorating your home and your neighborhood and bringing a sense of joy and warmth to your family and others.

From tinsel to trees, ribbons to wreaths, and ornaments to gingerbread men, the holiday season is full of colorful Christmas related decor.

There are some interesting facts about some common Christmas props you may not know.

For example, the shiny ribbons of silver we put on our tree called tinsel originated from Germany in the early 1600s.

The first real tinsel was actually made from real silver and cut into very thin strips.

Machines were used to cut the sheets of silver, and then the resulting strips were hung on the tree.

Of course, the newer version does not turn colors due to rust or tarnish, is much lighter, and much less expensive.

After church today we had our Thanksgiving meal. :dinner: We had such a wonderful variety of foods and desserts. Every thing was so good but I think my favorite thing was the pumpkin roll. It was delicious and I hadn't had it since last Christmas. Yum!
