I don't know where you get your energy. Due to lack of energy our kababs turned into pork medallions, rice, and japanese dumplings. Merry Christmas in July! :scene:

Allergy resurgence making for a not so fun Christmas in July Monday. Have now started taking benadryl and hoping they are better Before we have to fly on Wednesday. So looking forward to our trip to Germany. Spent the afternoon watching Primeval on Netflix with Perky. I could do all Christmas all the time, but I try not to tax his patience. Merry Christmas in July!

Sorry you're not feeling great Jolly. Benadryl works but it wipes me out and I end up napping. Alot. Hope it doesn't have that effect on you. Yes, I could do Christmas in July and Christmas All Year too but I also try not to wear out the family's patience!

QVC's Christmas in July programming Fri-Sunday was excellent. I only saw bits & pieces but did check out some of it late online. Alas, I had taken next weekend off for their annual celebration and cannot exchange those dates. Oh, well, its not as if I don't have the garage/closets stuffed full of Christmas wares!

I had a friend in the US that would take off to Watch the QVC Christmas in July Marathon as well. That's when it was actually over the 24th and 25th or so. We have lost touch but I bet she was also super disappointed in the new format. I looked at the Schedule but could not identify any particular Christmas programs. The time difference makes it difficult to Catch something at the right time. I have the same problem with BBN. It would be nice if QVC would archive the programs for later viewing as well as have the merchandise on the website. The Selling is the fun part to Watch. I have never actually bought anything. :shop:

We have the same problem at my job. Once vacation has been submitted via computer to personnel and approved, it can't be changed.

I received an interesting message on my LInkedIn profile. Some recruiter here at the North Pole sent me a job posting out of the blue.......It is for an "administrative specialist" (have to remember that fancy job title) here in Stockholm for an American Company called Parexel out of Maryland. They sell Medical Equipment. I thought it was pretty *Christmas Amazing since I am not actually job hunting yet. So, I applied. It is a long shot as they want someone with a Master's degree (I only have a Bachelor's in English), but pretty cool to have been contacted directly. Who knows, might be an early Christmas present in the making. I know I have a job at least until December and most likely until the end of the spring term at least, but would also e nice to have an option Before then. I am now 50, and finding jobs gets more difficult from here on out.

:holly1: What a nice Christmas in July surprise! :D

In America the hiring trend is to hire people 30 & under per my sis. She's an HR specialist for 35 years with a Masters. Remember 2 years ago when I mentioned she struggled to find employment. The law prohibits age discrimination but companies know how to get around that obstacle. It seems the world has a youth focus. But God's always makes a way!

Yes that is why Perky was happy to take any kind of job at age 54. Any thoughts of a career are over, just need a job to get by. I find it odd that the hiring trend is Young, but then governments (ours included) keeps talking about raising the retirment age. I Think 70 is currently proposed. In the US, my retirment age is 67 at least. Where are these people supposed to find jobs?

on a happier note, I watched Mr St Nick last night on FeelN, Another of my favorite Christmas in July Movies. We have an early flight tomorrow so we probably won't Watch anything tonight. Perky said tonight would have been a good night to book the Jumbo Jet hostel we visited. True, but we have 4 cats to get set up for our absence. Ours and the neighbor who is usually OUR cat sitter. Hoping the trip will be just as much fun as Christmas! :scene:

Yes, alot of it takes Place in Miami which sort of reminds me of my hometown, San Antonio where my parents have tamales on Christmas Day. They did not start that until I left home. After having along discussion with my aunt on my last visit, I now realize that all the weird holiday things started taking Place after my grandmother could no longer live alone and stopped cooking. I never realized she was the heart of Christmas until it was too late. I try to talk to my aunt about their lack of tradition by making her feel guilty "what will the kids remember? frozen lasagna? hot dogs?" The other grandmother does Christmas up big, but comparisons don't help. She is just not into Christmas. :razzberry:
