5 Best Christmas Gifts

Childhood:
Newborn Thumbelina doll and my Musical Rudolph (not the Rankin and Bass looking Rudolph), he was a rich burgundy colour with a key windup in his belly - had a hard body with a soft velvet cover.

Pre-adolescence:
Cross-Country skis - I don't recall using them all that often, but I really enjoyed waxing them for some odd reason

Adult:
Waterford's Santa and Rudolph crystal figurine
Pineapple tree ornament - because of what it stands for and who sent it
A huge collection of Chrsitmas CD's all at one time - including one from a friend from across the border

:jump: And the best of all was when I heard the news on Christmas Eve Day 2004 that my dad's cancer was gone and the medical profession was be-baffled by his recovery.

5 Christmas Groups or Singers

This one is a little harder. I wish there were a group or singers that solely focus Christmas, but at the moment I don't know of any. These are a few of my favourite newer Christmas albums at the moment. Although I still have many old time favourites as well.

1. Charlotte Church
2. Bryan Duncan
3. Reliant K
4. Todd Agnew
5. Veggie Tales

5 fave. Christmas stories ...

My mom has a book called A Treasury of Santa Mouse in her downstairs powder room, I’ve read it a few times, the illustrations look vintage, but the book isn't. And the Night Before Christmas with mice featured as the main characters. (She collects mice.)

Kewtee Bear - an old book, I don’t have it now, but I remember parts of it. Might have been my cousin's book, she was older than me.

The Night Before Christmas - I think our original edition was from the late early 40’s - the one I have now is a re-edition from the mid-80’s. I'm pretty sure I can still remember the first time it was read to us around the Christmas tree before our Christmas Eve guests arrived.

The Polar Express - didn't have my own copy, but remember reading it to my young cousins in the early 80's and I liked it. One of them found it too long and fell asleep.

I also enjoyed Little House in the Big Wood, but I don't know if it's really considered a Christmas book - Laura talked about Chirstmas time when all her cousins would come, the dances, and all the hard work that had to be done to ensure survival in the wintertime. Christmas is talked about in her reflections. (The writer in me, likes that one.)

:rudolph1: Give us 5 of your favourite treats to leave for Santa (and or his reindeer).

Your family Christmas most resembles which 5 movies?

That's not an easy one, but it's a good question.

:rudolph1: Well, every family has it's Rudolph - it's not me, but we have a misfit. We love him anyway.

Yes, Virginia There is a Santa Claus - animated special - that would be me asking and everyone in my family convincing me he exists.

A Charlie Brown Christmas - my parent's first Christmas tree as a married couple.

Andy Williams Christmas Special - plenty of guests stopping by, sharing songs and stories, special voice appearance by Burl and Dorothy Ives.

T'was the Night Before Christmas - I was about three when I first remember hearing the story being read around our Christmas Tree and the ending is how we always say good night on Christmas Eve.

There are so many more than just 5... Let me see...

1 - Christmas day at my Maternal Grandmothers with all the extended family when I was a child. She only had a 3 bedroom house but managed to get us all in there.

2 - One year I wanted a bike so bad for Christmas and it turned out that not just myself but my brother and sister and cousins and my best friend and her brother all got bikes for Christmas that year - mum still has pics of all the bikes laying and standing on the front lawn that Christmas day.

3 - We would often get the extended family together and do a picnic lunch at the beach (it is summer time here for Christmas).

4 - Both of the first Christmas's with my sons

5 - Every Christmas we have spent as a family. Family memories last forever.
