Sweet DH went to the General Store and they are once again stocking EGGNOG!! :smilecc: He picked us up 2 litres. One litre is already finished. He must be feeling a little Christmassy today because he had a glass as well and he doesn't often drink it.

Byron and I went to see "A Christmas Carol" last night. We really enjoyed. I think that even you're not a fan of Jim Carrey you would still enjoy it. The meaning and heart of the story was very much there and I must say I got a little misty at the end.

Byron and I will probably go see again on Thanksgiving Day. :holly1:

We started putting up our outdoor lights yesterday. I really want everything to be done so that I can turn them on Thanksgiving night. I talked to a friend today who said she had a day off of work this week so she was going to use it to put up her Christmas tree! She was so excited. I love having Christmas loving friends!

At church today we started the Christmas crafts. The kids are decorating gift bags for everyone at church. They had a good time. We decided what gifts we'll be giving the kids at church so I have to research prices and order them this week.

Tonight I plan to start addressing my Christmas cards. :smilecc: joyelf

What are some of the most popular Holiday World Records?

Some people love the holidays so much that they set out to break world records with their holiday cheer. For example:

The largest Christmas stocking measures 35 feet 41/2 inches long and 16 feet 5 inches wide. Created by J. Terry Osborne and friends from King William County, Virginia, it was filled with gifts to be distributed to needy children.

Jean-Guy Laquerre of Boucherville, Quebec, Canada, is an avid Father Christmas collector, with more than 13,000 items collected since 1988. The collecting bug bit when his aunt died and left him a 12-inch-high antique papier-mâché Santa Claus from the 1920s. Since then, he has added objects such as music boxes, yo-yos, photos, candleholders, and pens.

WOW! 35 foot long Christmas stocking. That sure would have held a lot of toys. I love that they used in the best possible way and in the true spirit of giving. :snowwow:

DH brought out the family room Christmas tree late this afternoon. It is standing and placed, but not yet decorated. It is pre-lit so we turned it on and admired it for awhile. We will decorate it sometime this week when all of us are at home together. :merrytree:

Hubby totally floored me on Friday. He asked if I wanted to put up the Christmas tree. I was stunned. I actually said no. What was I thinking?!!!!?!?

Actually I host a children's Christmas party for my girls' friends and a few of them our Muslims so I try to keep the decorations to a minimum while still keeping the the theme around Christmas. The parents don't seem to mind as I don't force the "religious" aspect. My parties are also the only ones these kids are permitted to attend so I don't want them to be left out. Plus if I did have all my decorations and tree up, I wouldn't have enough room for all the kids who attend - last year I had 16 children.

This year's theme is going to focus on music. The decoration/ornament will probably be Christmas bells. Still need to find a good craft that will match my age group (8 - 10 year olds). I'll keep you posted.

Mrs. Claus----It's wonderful that you're able to include everyone in your Christmas party celebration. That's a very hard thing to do. :carolbells:

I am so proud of myself. I stayed up late last night and got over half of my Christmas cards addressed and ready to go out. :smilecc:

Christmas is almost here! The dollar stores are packed with x-mas items, starbucks has their x-mas flavours, music, treats, etc on sale and Canadian Tire has taken out their x-mas stock. Also, Pet Smart is selling x-mas dog/cat toys.

The starbucks x-mas latte flavours this year include: Caramel Creme Brule, Peppermint Mocha and of course-Eggnog! I tried the caramel creme brule and it was delicious! I'd reccommend it to anyone. :flake: The Peppermint Mocha was also yummy but tasted strongly of peppermint. So I took a while to get used to it-but the x-mas cups are so seasonal so you should try one soon! :rudolph1:

Today I went to a market sale thing and got ALL these great x-mas decorations. I got a set of four x-mas figurines that are quite tall. They include santa and three children that are all doing something x-massy. I also got a beautiful tall x-mas tree which is gold and full of beautiful decorations. I paid a pretty penny but it was SO worth it. Now my room is well on it's way to looking like a miniature x-mas village.

I hope you're planning is all going well! :smilecc:

It's less than two weeks until the Toronto Santa Claus parade. This year it is Sunday November 15th at 12:30. It is televised and usually starts around 4:00. Which works out here because we should be back from hockey before it starts. :smilecc:
It just wouldn't be Christmas in our house without watching the parade. :santadance:

Just Stocked up on the plates, utensils, cups, and napkins the Christmas Day celebration. The tentative menu is written and I just bought some new decorations. So far so good on keeping organized.

One of our neighbors turned on their Christmas lights tonight! I just had to text them and tell them their lights look great! It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas..... :smilecc:

I bought my first box of chocolate covered cherries today. YUM!

I also bought 2 boxes of Christmas lights on clearance. They are stars that stake into the ground. I'm going to use them to line my front walk. :blinky1:

Did You Know?

You can spend your holidays in these destinations: Christmas, Florida; Santa Claus, Indiana; Noel, Missouri; and Rudolph, Wisconsin.
The Salvation Army collection kettle evolved from a large stewing pot set out in the streets of San Francisco in 1891 to collect money to provide Christmas dinner to 1,000 of the city's poorest residents.
In the United States, many retailers make up to 70 percent of their annual revenues in the month preceding Christmas.
More diamonds are purchased during the Christmas season than at any other time of the year.

We're all starting to decorate! YAY! :D

Tomorrow I re'clean the front of the house, and my family will put up the tree on Thursday. I hope to be finished with the tree in 2 weeks, the inside of the house the day after Thanksgiving and then maybe we'll get the outside decorated next. Last Christmas the outside was only partially completed. Oh, well........

I'm in the mood for some fa-la-la-la and jingle bells!
