I hate to complain, but.....

Hubby and I decided to go to a certain store today to do a little shopping and take dd to have her picture made with Santa. Well, they had the worst Santa I have ever seen. He never spoke a word to any of the kids and he never even cracked a smile. And the workers in the photo center were even worse. They were all rude if not downright mean. Now I understand that this is just a gimmick to get parents in to spend their money but I can tell you after this experience hubby and I picked up the really bad pics and went to another store to spend our money. I was so disappointed because we took her to the same store 2 years ago and had a wonderful experience. I know that money is tight this Christmas and that alot of people are feeling down, but there's no excuse for this.

Now on a brighter note, ksrjreed I'm so glad that you are getting snow. :snowwow: Hope the dinner with your family is wonderful.

And mistletoe misfit hope you get your snow next week. And I really hope that it's a beautiful Christmas snow and not a nasty winter storm. :flake: :flake: :flake:

Oh, CandyKane how awful for you and your little daughter. I think if someone takes on the role of Santa one must take that responsibility seriously and treat the children with respect, kindness and in all the spirit that Santa represents. Including jovial HO!HO!HO'S!
I am so glad Santa at your Christmas party was wonderful. :D

Well we finally had the time today to finish decorating our downstairs Christmas tree. Our theme for that tree is handmade only decorations. I made silver bows for it a few years back, and each year the children make a few new decorations, a friend has also made us a few. The children and I were feeling extra Christmassy and motivated. So we talked DH into bringing the living room tree up. The children and I decorated it as well. DH put the snowman on top. This tree is snowmen/snowflakes/icicles/angels themed.

Th children really wanted to sleep here in the living room next to the Christmas tree. So we brought out a mattress, both girls are going to sleep on that and DS is going to sleep on the couch  :treewiggle: :treegifts:

I am hoping so too CandyKane, but right now it's sounding like it might be a nasty one. Starting out with rain and then becoming snow for an extended period of time. I am hoping for some of the beautiful white fluffy Christmas snow but I don't want it to be treacherous for everyone. :snowhappy2:

Oh, CandyKane, I am so sorry for your daugher's experience and the disappointment for you & your DH!! When I worked retail years ago, people KNOW the pressure/people/stress and it is their job to treat people nicely!!

Hope you love the pictures taken at the other store! :smilecc:

Thanks Noel. We wont be able to sit by the tree and watch movies today. That's Ok though because we are going to DH'S work Christmas party for the kids. There will be a magician, draws for prizes, McDonald's for lunch, presents and of course Santa. Right now we are enjoying the Holiday station on the TV, this plays continual Christmas music along with the beautiful fireplace burning logs. :blinky1:

One week today until our annual find our real Christmas tree adventure. It would probably be a little less time consuming if someone(cough, cough me! ) wasn't so particular. It's never tall enough or bushy enough. HEE! HEE! This year I am going to have to make sure it's not Griswold size though. We were given a beautiful antique hutch for the dining room this year and this means we must choose a smaller tree. :merrytree:

Christmas party was a huge success!!! :santa:
The kids had a blast. They received some really awesome gifts. DD7 was given a Lite Bright Flash Art kit. Very cool, it spins and plays music while you drop neon paints on to the design paper. DS got a spy nerf type launcher. One whistles when it shoots 40 feet, one has tassles hanging, and the other has secret compartment were you can place a message to other spies. DD5 received an educational, electronic reading system that can either be portable or be hooked up to the tv. It also came with a Thomas the Engine book and cartridge.

We just made it home from church. I read the kids a wonderful little story book, God Gave Us Christmas. It's a sweet little story about a bear cub who asks her Mama if Santa invented Christmas, and Mama explains that Santa is only part of the Christmas story. That God invented Christmas when he gave us his son Jesus. The kids really enjoyed it and I think it helped them see what Christmas is all about. A recommended read for preschoolers. :nav2:

After story time we made paper chains and decorarted angel ornaments for our tree.

Right after church several of us stayed to work on the Christmas decorations. The guys worked on the outside stuff and we put up a second tree inside the church. We put out lots of greenery and poinsettia's. Everything is really looking good.

If you received all of the gifts in the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas," you would receive 364 gifts.

The poinsettia is a traditional Christmas flower. In Mexico (its original birthplace), the poinsettia is known as the "Flower of the Holy Night".

Sorry to hear you had a Grinchy Santa CandyKane.. Some people can be very rude...

Well my inside decorating is well and truely done, I just have to wait for Dan to finish the lights outside - which he has been promising to do for over a week now. But it is so hot of an afternoon after work and he starts so early that he can't possibly do it before work... Patience sadly is not one of my virtues but I am trying...
