"CHRISTMAS" Thread - 1500

I hope coming on this blog helps to de-stress you.

I really need to try and do my shopping all year long. Right now we are planning for my sister's wedding which is in 74 days (yes, she keeps us posted with the countdown). After the wedding I would like to start Christmas shopping. With the amount of nieces and nephews I have my list keeps increasing. And now my cousin just found out that she is pregnant with twins!
I finished The CHristmas Cookie Club book and now I have begun reading There's Something About Christmas from Debbie Macomber. She write such great Christmas romance comedies. It keeps me in the Christmas mood.

I started work on my Christmas Journal so that's cheered me up quite a bit!

Is there a certain format on which you write your journal?

For my Christmas journal I prefer the old-fashioned pen and paper notebook. I can keep track of all my lists and jot down little notes. If someone mentions there is something that they want I make a mental note then add it to my gift list.

Just a friendly reminder about the 'rule' for our Christmas thread.

We did it!!! 2009 we reached our goal of 1200 posts!!! Congratulations everyone!!! Not sure what we should set as our goal for 2010 - how about we try for 1500.

Now remember, in this thread we can talk about anything - how life is going, memorable moments, frustrations, joys, etc.. The only one "rule" is that somewhere in each post you mention the word 'Christmas'. It could be in your greeting or closing - you could just throw it in anywhere as long as it's there.

Shopping throughout the year is definitely key. I bought something for my aunt and mother 3 days after Christmas.

Thank you CandyKane for your ideas on the Christmas journal. I would like to start one soon. I especially like how you write down ideas for gifts based on what people mention throughout the year. Sometimes when it comes to shopping close to Christmas I have a mental block. This will help.

Time to celebrate with listening to one of my favorite Christmas songs Go Tell it on The Mountain by Barlow Girl. The song makes me want to dance.

We have a very severe winter storm headed our way...Freezing rain, sleet, and snow. After last years ice storm and 13 days without electricity I'm really worried. I went and stocked up on groceries and other necessities today. It's not fair to have winter weather and not have Christmas.

I packaged up the Christmas pillows & bears tonight to store away tomorrow. Just 2 more items to pack away this weekend.

I'm missing Christmas already!

Candy Cane your post made me think of a CS Lewis quote from his Narnia series: "always winter and never Christmas". I love the part in the book when Santa shows up!

The weather here is turning nasty very quickly. The freezing rain and sleet have already started. If I don't check in for a few days that means that we've lost power again.

Luckily I have several new Christmas projects to work on to keep me busy.

Hopefully all is well over there.

This weekend my son has his Kindergarten testing (part 1) which will be a over and hour. Then in the evening I am taking my kids to see the dance show for my school (I teach at a high school). At least it hasn't rained for the past three days.

Today I am watching one of my favorite Christmas movie, Comfort and Joy.

We have been so lucky. Yesterday we only got a thin layer of ice before it all changed over to snow. It's been snowing all day long and now we have over 8 inches on the ground. It's a beautiful fluffy snow and it makes everything look like a beautiful Christmas card.


I finished the ornament for the January ornament challenge. I also finished 2 Christmas scrapbook layouts. I have some new card making supplies so I thought I might work on making a Christmas card this evening.

The last of the Christmas items is safely packed away for the long long wait til next November.

I've started to really pray that when I retire, if not before, we can move up north where we have snow in winter!

DD jumped up this morning and ran to the front window to see if the snow was still there. She kinda reminded me of one of those little suction cup animals that you see in car windows with her little nose pressed up against the glass. I asked her who gave us the snow and she said Ho HO Ho.(That's what she calls Santa) I said are you sure it wasn't God who gave it to us. And she said no it was Ho Ho Ho. Guess Santa gets credit for all the good stuff. She loves Christmas almost as much as I do.

The snow is way too dry and powdery to build a decent snowman but it's perfect for snow angels.

I wish our Christmas lights were still up. I'd turn them on just to see the beautiful reflection in the snow.
