i'm not 100% sure what you mean by "decorating Strategies" so i'll just give my answer as to what I think it means.

1 - have tree and christmas village up before thanksgiving so i can have it on while i watch macy's thanksgiving day parade.

2 - for doing the light on the tree - lights must be put on while the artificial tree is being put together ( i dont have a prelit for our main tree) each level of branches gets ATLEAST 2 rings of solid lights in thecenter and 2 rings of blinking on the outsides)

3 - my wife does the ribbon on the tree NOT FOR DISCUSSION!!! lol

4- we decorate the tree at night (my wife and I) so we always leave ornaments for the kids to put up in the morning (now that they are starting to get older this year we might let them stya up a bit later not sure yet)

5 - all christmas decorating must be done while drinking hot chocolate!

okay - IF Christmas were TOMORROW what 5 things would you do TODAY? (for this question assume that what you house and christmas arraingments are like RIGHT NOW and not what they will be like on dec 24th)

Okay........at Rudolph speed!

1. Hang wreaths in every room [predecorated last year]
2. Hang lights everywhere!
3. Outdoor wreath/lights are snappy!
4. Tree! everyone front & center: throw on lights/ribbons
5. Table linens and candles!

That was fun but exhausting -

2 - Metal filigree, so that the lights shine around it and define the shape (swirls and stars are nice)
3 - Reminiscient ones from childhood, family & friends
4 - Edible ones! for having a sweet snack while taking down the tree
