I'll do my part, here is a church who does a Christmas in August service project of home repairs for those in need. They were inspired by the Christmas in Action (originally Christmas in April project and Habitat for Humanity).

I do a random internet search on Christmas in July and Christmas in August every summer and it's amazing what comes up. In fact, that's how I found YOU!

The Christmas Cookie exchange sounds like a great idea. If I was still in the US, I'd try that with my ladies tea group for a Christmas in August party. What a great way to try out new recipes before THE BIG event!

I've made my Christmas cookie exchange list for our annual church project. Its 13 dozen -- and this year I am not making/decorating cutouts because I want to try some new cookies. I need a few new cutters too. Such fun! :dinner: :smilecc:

Today I received my Leanin Tree Christmas Card catalog! Such fun -- I'm still pondering which ones to order for the children. :smilecc:

Good idea! That can be my christmas boost after 'hell month' of August. I'm a temporary university course administrator, hoping to be permanent in January.

Merry Christmas to everyone, just felt like saying that, after a weekend at a baseball tournament and now a week of Band Camp for the oldest and school getting ready to start haven't had much time to get on here this week, and now I am off to clean out my Christmas closet time to take stock, of course for someone like me the closet is more fun than work. At least for me, time to get the Christmas season started(and besides, it's to hot to go outside). :smilecc:

Also, what about our Card exchange this year, I really enjoyed it last year and needing to know if we are going to be doing it again this year. :smilecc:

What a hot week - so much I want to do but so hot!!!! And, of course, when it cools off I'm not going to want to do anything but relax and enjoy the cool.

Been thinking Christmas a lot today!

I have 2 mp3's and one mp4 player. My husband keeps them loaded for me. One is Christmas, the other is non-Christmas. I suppose one should be Swedish and one English, but oh well. I came to work today listening to Bing Crosby singing 'O Come all Ye Faithful'. My home church in San Antonio sang this all year round. The church I grew up in sang Go Tell it on the Mountain all year round. I'm glad I found this group, now I know I'm not the only 'weird' person in the world who lives in Christmas all year round. :-)

Merry Christmas in August!

I'm always excited when our church adds a "Christmas" song to the song list. :singing:

Don't know how I forgot to mention this yesterday, but anyway - I'll tell you all today: I finished cross-stitching my oldest daughter's Christmas stocking!!!! I started it 3 years ago - lol. The only thing left to do is sew it up - now to find someone who sews. I've thought of getting the fabric weave stuff so I don't have to sew just iron, but I'm not sure how long it would last.

It's time to start my next project - stitching my youngest daughter's stocking. Hopefully it won't take my 3 years to finish.

Today's Christmas installment. I read these before leaving the states. Book 1 was great, Book 2 so so, but then the series was redeemed with Hot Flash Holidays! I don't think I read the 4th one or anything else by the same author.

I have a new hobby. It's finding Christmas avatars for this list. Preferably with the words 'Christmas in.......whatever month it is'. Oh what fun.........can't wait for the months to change now. My husband already knows I'm weird. LOL

Google pics is a great source.

That's wonderful Mrs. C! I still have pillowcases my Mom embroidered two years ago and I'll cherish them -- your daughter will have her stocking for every Christmas to come. What a lovely gift!

This coming week it'll be over 110F every day with high humidity -- we are definitely in a droopy mood! It's a challenge to think Christmas when your A/C is running 24/7!

I know just how you feel Noel. Christmas seems very far away when the heat index is 110 degrees. :|

I finally got the order filled out for our church's Fall Festival. And of course I managed to sneak in a few Christmas items too. :smilecc:

We decided not to send dd to the preschool/headstart program this year and instead inrolled her in a home instruction program. The program is run by a good friend of mine and we went to some of the meetings last year. Once a month they have big get togethers that offer dinner, playtime, and arts and crafts. Can't wait to see what crafts they come up with for Halloween and Christmas. :smilecc:

Mrs C.---About 15 years ago I found a beautiful Santa Claus cross-stitch pattern in a craft magazine and decided I would make a stocking. I sewed on it for almost a year before I finished. It turned out beautifully but instead of a stocking I dated and framed it and gave it to my Mom for Christmas. She displays it proudly every year. Since you've got one dd's stocking done, that will give you alot more motivation to finish the other one. :holly1:
