We just got home from the Christmas party. It was so much fun. There's just nothing like an old fashioned Christmas party at a little country church. :scene:

All of this talk of Christmas parties is inspiring. I want to have another "ugly" Christmas sweater party this year. Think I can get it organized for next weekend? :smilecc:

Today is December 13, Luciadagen, Santa (Sankta in Swedish) Lucia, or St. Lucy's Day, when Swedish girls across the land dress in white gowns, with red sashes, and put candles on their head and walk around handing out coffee and lussekatts (lucia buns). Most schools and daycares have programs and are out either today or sometime this week for Christmas break. There is also a program on tv at 7 am. Most people with kids are late because of the programs. If my work doesn't do anything, I might be 'late' next year even though I don't have kids. ;-P

kiwi--I remember you posting last year about an ugly Christmas sweater party. Sounds like so much fun. I'm sure if I dig far enough back in my closet I can pull out an ugly Christmas sweater or two. :D

Candy Cane- That is funny that you remember my party from last year. We even have an extra sweater for those who come unprepared.

Today I received a Christmas card from a precious friend of our family. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's before my Mom, but of course Mom passed earlier this year. So far this friend has done very well with treatment and I am touched that she remembered me!

I know what you mean...trying to maintain that balance between being excited for it to hurry up and get here AND wanting time to slow down to get things done and enjoy this time of year. :shop:

I finished my Christmas cards tonight, while watching the snow fly outside.

Below freezing temps here but still no snow. :snowwow: I'm still dreaming of a White Christmas though. :flake:

Really wishing Christmas would slow down too. I've got so much going on right now it's hard to tell where one day stops and where another begins. :holly1:

Noel--I think it's very touching that your friend remembered you with a Christmas card this year. Some of my Christmas cards mean so much to me, that I leave them displayed long after Christmas is over. :smilecc:

What a wonderful sentiment, CK. I decided to frame this one and place it on display next Christmas also. I'm hoping I can find a Christmas frame in the after holiday sales. :D

Wrapped up my Secret Santa gift for tomorrow's potluck/exchange! Finished 40 Christmas cards for tomorrow also. The remaining 60 I'll hand out at the Christmas breakfast 7am Friday morning. I'm singing Christmas tunes night and day now - HO HO HO! :D

Both are wonderful choices! For secular choice I love Sleigh Ride (instrumental version). For religious I would choose Silent Night :singing:

Actually, now that I think about it, I really love any of the Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown Christmas music. Every song on that album is great!

We just got home from dd's preschool playgroup. They made the cutest little Christmas crafts. My favorite were the sugar cube igloos. These would be so cute displayed with gingerbread houses. :smilecc:
