I got an email from Samaritan's Purse about our Operation Christmas Child box. Our box went to Uganda. Praying for this child and for all children who received these special boxes.

Candy, I am sure that the child in Uganda will love their present, as for your Christmas Eve dinner, you sound like my wife right now, she is counting down everything that is done and seems relieved until she realizes what she has left to do.

Went to the grocery store to pick up a gallon of milk and I can tell that it is Christmas Eve and that we are to have a bad snow,,,,,milk that was on sale this at the start of this week is now regular price,,,,you have to love the rules of supply and demand.

Family favorites I guess, although I'm sure both are enjoyed by lots of folks around here. The bean salad is basically lettuce, tomatoes, chopped green onions, shredded cheddar cheese, pinto beans, and fritos tossed with catalina dressing. My family enjoys this every Thanksgiving and Christmas.

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

Hubby is off on his annual Christmas Eve shopping trip to buy stocking stuffers. His gifts are bought but he has to get me stocking stuffers.

I got one last Christmas card in the mail today. I have truly been blessed with some beautiful cards this year. While walking back from the mailbox, it started sprinkling again. Anything that falls now will definitely freeze.

And while everyone remembers Ralphie Parker and the holiday classic "A Christmas Story," they may not know that they can visit the house where he lived in the movie.

•In 1979, the National Christmas Tree was not lighted except for the top ornament. This was done in honor of the American hostages in Iran.
