Forgot to mention, we found pumpkin in the store today! I have to boil it and pure'e it then we will take it north to make authentic american pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving in July. Christmas in July will be mincemeat.

Further suggestions are welcomed. :dinner: :snowwow:

Yes I view QVC online after work on Christmas in July dates like this year when I have to work all day. Some items are sold out...........but its still fun!

Pumpkins! Its 115 here today its hard to imagine pumpkins on sale! YAY! I love pumpkin! :peekleaves2:

There is something very weird about cooking pumpkin on the stove in July when it is 28F in the apartment. Suddenly have an urge to watch The Great Pumpkin, A charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and A Charlie Brown Christmas! :pumpkin: :thanks: :merrytree:

Mostly because of the time difference I watch the "overnight" portion. I never bought even when I lived in the US, but it is fun to watch and puts you into the spirit. The Cartoon Network or Disney used to run Christmas shows too but not in recent years. We have enough DVD´s to open a Blockbuster, so I am not worried. We will be at my sister in law´s in Northern Sweden so we will take the portable DVD player for our room above the garage. :-)

I was suprised to see pumpkins this time of year too. They came from Argentina I think. "Seasonal" has a different connotation here so you have to strike while the iron is hot! I should have enough for the pie for Thanksgiving in July and for us next fall as well. Thinking of using part of it to make pumpkin shakes tonight. :-)

I also checked the QVC website and they're going to be doing their Christmas in July on the weekend of July 23-24. I always watch but never order...I just like seeing the Christmas items and hearing a little Christmas music.

For my part it is the original Miracle on 34th Street with Edmund Qwen, Natalie Woods, and Maureen Ohara. Dan Daily is a cutie too!

I watch QVC's Christmas in July celebration every year.........take a day off from work if approved [not this year]. It's fun........and I have ordered some items that turned out to be great decorations. ..

As original Santas go I wholeheartedly agree. I do think Tim Allen is a great Santa in modern-day Christmas movies. :D

Its 115F here but feeling more like Christmas in July every day! :snowwow:

In my opinion, Edmund Gwenn is the best actor to ever put on the Santa suit on film. He is so charming and witty, he really makes me believe in everything he says and does.

I would have to agree with you :D

We went to the mall today and stopped in to Yankee Candles to check out the new fall scents. I really like them. My favorite was "Over the River" I think it was called.

We were also happy to see that they had a really great sale going. They had one table where they had items 3 for $10 and another 2 for $5 table. They had tons of Christmas stuff. Byron and I got a few things. We paid $16 for purchases that normally would have cost over $50 at that store. We are quite pleased. Here are pics of the items we bought.

The three in the back are the 3 for $10 and the two in the front are the 2 for $5. So, be sure to check out your local Yankee to see if they have anything you might like!

Aw! I miss Yankee Candle! no store in Sweden, strangely enough and apartments are really too small for such decorative items. You have no storage space, so any flat surface is used to store such things as cleaning products, books, dvd´s. NOt very attractive or seasonal, so we use ALOT of garland for holidays, over the doorways, etc.

And I'm certain you squeeze into your garland lots of Christmas ornaments! Good for you! :gbhouse:

Actually, I had not thought of that. We just had a tree for the first time last year. My ex husband was against chrismtas trees so we had "christmas chains" which we hung around the den with macrame hooks, wrapped in lights and then I hung my ornaments up that way. Here, we have stone walls which are impenatrable with small hooks, so have not come up with a solution yet. :shop:

That sounds beautiful too. You definitely show your Christmas spirit even in a room with limited space! :smilecc:

Things are finally getting back to normal after a very long, and very, very good, July 4th holiday! Had so much fun with family and friends. Can't wait to do it all again next year. I love this time of year. Little bits of Christmas are starting to creep in everywhere! :smilecc:

Right now Walmart.com is offering their big K'nex playsets for $10. You can have it shipped for free to your local store and pick it up there. This is a bargain if you have a little boy on your Christmas shopping list. I actually thought about getting one of the Kids K'nex sets for my dd. She loves lego's and mega blocks, so I'm pretty sure she would like these.

Really good news! In two weeks, I'm going on a vacation in which I'll be going to a hotel with plenty of summer activities. However, the best part is that I'll be visiting a Christmas shop right next to the hotel where you can buy decorations, ornaments, anything Christmas-related. I'll be going before July 25th, so I'll be back in time for QVC's Christmas in July. This CIJ will be really fun!

i'm curious, has anyone seen any stores selling anything 'christmas' yet? i was browsing some blogs and a couple posters commented that they'd seen christmas stuff in Michael's and i think also mervyn's this week//
i'm looking forward to seeing stuff in some of the local thrift stores here in dallas.one particular family owned dollar store usually has christmas decorations(tree) in september.one summer as early as august..i was thrilled totally that summer.bought tree stuff way early.
>>>>>>> i found it in the last place that i looked,as they say.
what's weird is that i found it in the next place i looked also.
so now i have two of them and i only need one!!

Its going to be 118F here today........so summertime is not a time for our dollar/discount stores to display Christmas items. Some of the American Greeting/Hallmark stores have left over Christmas items for sale.

Christmas in July is just 3 weeks away so keep looking! :shop:

I have spent the last 2 days canning and freezing from my very bountiful garden. I even made a few extra jars of jelly and pickles to include in Christmas gift baskets. :santagifts:
