Byron and I went to the Hallmark ornament premier this weekend. We had a really nice time. It was really nice to browse the Christmas ornaments. :)

Just love Hallmark's Christmas ornaments! Glad you enjoyed it Stephanie......and how awesome is Byron to go with you?!

On my long drive to the cabin, I caught a glimpse of the Christmas wonderland store that I will be going to in a couple of days. All I could see was a huge white building and a giant Santa Claus, so I'm dying with anticipation. Also, there was a Christian gift shop with a Christmas aisle. I almost bought a beautiful figurine of an old fashioned Santa Claus holding baby Jesus, but it cost too much

How fun to have such a special Christmas shop opening close by you! And never apologize for a retreat in a cabin! You enjoyed the figurine of Santa with baby Jesus and that free memory will last forever. I can't even count all the Christmas items I've seen in my lifetime that I truly appreciated but could never afford. Good for you!

You might find a similar item (Santa with baby Jesus) on ebay. We watched a bit of ShopNBC online before getting out of bed (morning here in Sweden, so it was the overnight show) and now I sit here listening to Christmas carols while job hunting. Anders got a call from a recruiter in Ireland who thought he could meet our salary requirement. I asked him which he would choose if he had a choice between Ireland and Tomteland.......he did NOT have the right answer.

Praying God's leadership in this transition in our lives. He will email Tomteland later for more info on the park chief job. One thing to consider is that if it is only temporary and we share the salary, that will really kill us on unemployment when it is finished. We shall see. Keep us in your prayers.

Put up the Merry Christmas sign my mother sent from the US (wooden probably from Hobby Lobby, but cute) and the red, white, and green garland I stashed in a covenient closet for Christmas in July. I wasn't going to bother since we are gone next week, but it took me all of five minutes and makes the apartment cheerier. Anders suggested we put up a "liberty tree" next year for Christmas in July I said I had already been thinking about that, red white and blue. His mother raised him well, he says she used to listen to Christmas music year round. AND, my Christmas in July CD by Judith Owen has reappeared. Silly hubby insisted we wait until July to listen to it and it somehow got "lost" in his school bag for a few months...

Yeah, I saw the Santa Claus on eBay that you were referring to. I might try and snag it because the price seems reasonable. Good luck on your job hunt :)

Last Christmas I bought my Mom a beautiful figurine of Santa kneeling beside baby Jesus in the manger. It is very special and makes a wonderful addition to her ever growing Christmas collection. I love the image and have printed one out to use for our church Christmas program.

Been busy working and going back and forth with my boss on how to do my job, anyway still can't dampen my Christmas spirit, still going on appointments listening to my Christmas music. Just really enjoy how that music makes me feel, even when it is 110 degrees.

Yeah, HSN had a great showing, but the finale was my favorite. Two light up angels for outdoors, and an inflatable Santa Claus riding a sleigh full of reindeer. HSN put a lot of work into it, and it paid off. QVC is going to need a lot to top it.

Tomorrow I have some cleaning to do before decorating. And of course start preparing Sunday's side dishes ahead of time. Saturday my plan is to bake/decorate the cookeis!

I have officially returned from my vacation. I stayed at a wonderful hotel with a Christmas shop next door. I spent all day today spending time at the Christmas shop, where I bought ornaments, decorations, and finally, some beautiful Santa Claus figurines. It was a HUGE store, at least as big as 3 buildings, and was pure Christmas (with small little dabs of Halloween and Easter, which I thought was cool). There was also a "Silent Night cathedral", a cute little cathedral dedicated to the popular Christmas song as different versions of the song played over the speakers. My text cant even do this place justice, so I took a lot of pictures just to show you guys. I'll post the link to the photos below. What better way to celebrate Christmas in July then to get ready for the actual holiday? (Oh, and I found an ornament of Santa kneeling next to baby Jesus. The hunt is over! )

Father Christmas, absolutely beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing. This is probably my last post before we head off on vacation to northern sweden. For some reason, I can only log onto this group from my main computer, not the laptop or netbook. We celebrated early yesterday with Christmas in July (1940) with Dick Powell and Rudolph and Frosty´s Christmas in July. My husband was disappointed there are only two movies with Christmas in July in the title. Here are some of my other favorites I usually like to watch: Christmas Town, Moonlight and Mistletoe, Off Season with Hume Cronyn has a Christmas in July scene, and on youtube you can find cartoons of Camp Candy: Christmas inJuly, Punky Brewster: Christmas in July and Baby Looney Toons. I think Camp Candy is the best, the others are great though if you have kids.

No word yet from Tomteland on our initial inquiry. If we do not hear anything while on vacation, we will go ahead and send letter with resumes anyway. Too bad we have two cats with us, or we could "swing by" and have a look. ,-P Either way, it is definitely a future vacation spot. I did not realize they had so much for adults.

Oh, and I keep forgetting to mention a cute movie we saw, the English title is The Gnomes and the Trolls. It is not specifically "christmas" but the gnomes (tomtes) are the same ones who do all the work at Christmas. they work the farm the rest of the year.
