jwlundgren wrote:Father Christmas, absolutely beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing. This is probably my last post before we head off on vacation to northern sweden. For some reason, I can only log onto this group from my main computer, not the laptop or netbook. We celebrated early yesterday with Christmas in July (1940) with Dick Powell and Rudolph and Frosty´s Christmas in July. My husband was disappointed there are only two movies with Christmas in July in the title. Here are some of my other favorites I usually like to watch: Christmas Town, Moonlight and Mistletoe, Off Season with Hume Cronyn has a Christmas in July scene, and on youtube you can find cartoons of Camp Candy: Christmas inJuly, Punky Brewster: Christmas in July and Baby Looney Toons. I think Camp Candy is the best, the others are great though if you have kids.

Oh, and I keep forgetting to mention a cute movie we saw, the English title is The Gnomes and the Trolls. It is not specifically "christmas" but the gnomes (tomtes) are the same ones who do all the work at Christmas. they work the farm the rest of the year.

Keeping you in our thoughts & prayers on the job search! So glad you're having a good Christmas in July celebration!

Merry Christmas in July! :snowhouse: :snowkiss: joyelf

Ive been up all night watching Christmas in July on QVC! The music, sets, decorations and gifts are all fabulous!

My pocket book is too small for the TSV artifical tree, but I'd sure love to have one so easy to set up!

I've been shopping: Mark Klaus sculptures, snowmen LED set, gift bags/cards, and adding many items to my 'wish list'.

ENJOY celebrating Christmas through Monday the 25! :snowhappy2:

We usually celebrate from Sunday to Sunday in whichever week the 25th falls, but this year we started early because we are gone as of tomorrow. I kind of like it. I have all sorts of Christmas movies and music packed for our personal entertainment. :D

I was looking at hawaiian recipes earlier and we might make a southern/hawaiian christmas dinner at my swedish sister-in-law´s next week. I´m thinking pineapple glazed ham (also very southern), "hawiian meatballs" (found recipe online, as you can guess meatballs are a very swedish christmas (and anytime) tradition, with maybe rice and green beans, depends on what we can find up there. I am taking one can of pineapple with me. And maybe pineapple upside down cake (also very "southern") Usually, I make hawaiian chicken or hawaiian haystacks (in the US, no cream of anything soup here, so sometimes it is kind of tough). For some reason, along the way, we started having hawaiian food for Christmas in July and Korean or Asian for Christmas in August. It is fun to make holiday recipes from other cultures. :dinner:

I look forward to hearing/reading about everyone's celebrations when we return.

Aloha Kalikemaka!

Just so everyone knows, QVC is ongoing with their Christmas in July. I haven't been able to see that much so far, due to the shock of Amy Winehouse's death (poor girl will miss Christmas), but I'm watching right now. Thank you everyone for your kind words on the pictures I posted by the way, it means a lot. Merry Christmas!

I'm still shopping away on QVC! Their sale prices are amazing! I've got some great decorations, cards, and gifts! I even purchased 5 Harry Slatkin holiday decorated/scented candles for only $29 -- they cost more than that for one at major department stores or Bath & Body Works! Yay............ :shop:

Good for you! QVC does seem to have very good items, I really liked the Bethlehem trees they showcased. And it goes on all day today, so I'm sure they'll pull out some more great items. :snowwow:

Just finished my Santa shopping on QVC as Christmas in July ended. Tomorrow, they will have online specials but I don't think my piggy bank has any coins left over. It was a joy! :smilecc:

Noel-I'm glad you found some great Christmas deals on QVC. I watched some of their specials but as usual I didn't buy anything. Just enjoyed window shopping. :scene:

A Christmas reminder: on QVC every 25th of the month, August through November, they have a total day of Christmas. It's called "Countdown to Christmas" ..... even when the heat is raging outside!

I did splurge a little from QVC: I bought some flameless Christmas candles; 2 snowpeople w/LED lights, and some Slatkin candles. When the packages arrive it'll feel like Christmas again.........for a tiny bit of funds! :D

Thanks for the reminder! I haven't signed up with them again since I've moved.

We went to see Winnie the Pooh today at the movies. Yes, two adults with no children went to see Winnie the Pooh and we enjoyed it! Anyway, there was a preview for a Christmas move called Arthur Christmas. It's a computer animated movie. I was really excited to see that preview. :scene:
