Yes, QVC was absolutely fabulous about the order! The representative told me to be careful throwing out the box. Usually they can send a re-order but this great bargain has no stock left on hand. AND I wouldn't try it again in this heat. Atleast it smelled like Christmas for a few minutes! :shop:

Caught a Christmas episode of Murder She Wrote on Swedish tv the other day called "The Christmas Secret". Looked like one of the earlier seasons. Then we had to top it off with watching Mrs. Santa Claus also with Angela Lansbury. A delightful movie about Mrs. Claus taking the reindeer out for a spin when she is feeling unappreciated by the "big guy" planned marvelously by Charles Durning. If we get the job at Tomteland, I want outfits just like hers!

What a great way to start August...........Christmas! :smilecc:

My Christmas cactus, a gift last season, had been wilting away for months. NOW in 112F heat, it is reviving?! Guess I overwatered the plant and now it is surviving in August. YAY! :D

I found some Donna Gelsinger Christmas needlework prints online and ordered one witht he refunded QVC money. It's a blonde girl with a blue coat standing next to the snowman she made in the yard. I have a picture of me that could double for that artwork! So my fingers will be busy til Christmas stitching away! :gbhouse:

Found this handy guide online while showing my Swedish husband what a Christmas cactus is. I think my mother probably had one. I have a black thumb, but it would be very cool to have one blooming for Christmas in August. Anders thinks his mother had one so we might be able to find one in Sweden and use artificial light in the eternal darkness of winter. I had no idea they were "generational", now that is so cool!

So glad it's finally August, Fall is just around the corner. I know some people might not like this, but I hate Summer. The only thing it has going for it is 4th of July and Christmas in July (and maybe some vacations). But Fall has Halloween (my second favorite holiday behind Christmas) and Thanksgiving (which everyone knows is the start of the holiday season). Christmas is finally coming closer, so time to get ready and look into getting some shopping done. I might not be able to buy anything until mid-September though. When do you guys usually start your holiday shopping?

If you like "different" Christmas movies/drama, check out White Christmas (2011, Korean Drama) at www.koreandrama.org. It is a psychological thriller that takes place over the winter break at an exclusive high school in Korea. It is in Korean with English subtitles. There has been no blood so far, so it is not a slasher movie. I am in episode 5. It came up under my annual search for "korean christmas" which I do every August.

Well I "officially" lost my job today, but everything is fine with me. The stress that my career had put on me and my family is now over and I have a silver lining, I will be starting back to school in the fall and finishing my degree that I started some time ago, which in my mind is the best Christmas gift I can give myself and my family. :smilecc:

Your attitude & outlook is very positive and that will open doors for you along the way! I'm sorry the job didn't work out, but in this economy holding a job [doing 2/3 persons jobs!] is so stressful! I'm certain you are right about your family being better off and with classes starting you'll excel!

Here's a toast to rosy Christmas! :shop:

:peekleaves2: Oh, I've always hated summer too. Even as a kid my Mom said I hated the heat/humidity -- but loved the water sports.

Autumn signals beautiful changes and heralds in Christmas! YAY! :peekleaves2:

Watcged Moonlight and Mistletoe on the mp4 player last night followed by Scooby Doo Winter Wonderdog for some "cool" entertainment. Keep hoping to see snow for real soon. The weather prediction keeps saying rain, but we have not seen anything yet.

Keep those Christmas movies coming! Thinking Snow Dogs is next.
