Praying for God´s direction. He really likes the part time job and hopes it could turn into full time. When it rains it pours! Asking for prayers from all my Christmas friends!

Keeping you & hubby in prayers Jennifer. God knows which job is best and we're believing for His guidance! :smilecc:

oh man...christmas decorating plans are taking shape

the christmas village is still causing me concern though....do i put it in the kitchen like my wife wants - we have a HUGE kitchen that has plenty of room for our kitchen table and another large table for the village - or do i put it in our front computer room where i can put up the entire vilalge on atleast 2 tables?

cons are in the kitchen i wont put out the entire village - but it will be visible from my recliner in the living room.

cons in the front room is it wont be visible from my recliner in the living room but it will be visible from outside and passer byes through the double window in that room plus it will be the entire vilalge

ugghhhhhh decisions decisions atleast i've settled on where the tree is going

Pretjah,
Passer byes will not be able to see the detail of the village. Put it where you can see it and enjoy it. Put a tree in the front window. I love to see them when I'm out driving around. The kids do too.

Just sayin'.

P.S.
Respect the wife's wishes. You may have to come up with some kind of a compromise.

Merry Christmas!

the tree is 100% going in the living room (which is not the front room) the wife, kids and I all agree on that one.

so the front room double windows will get the village or just candles (electric kind) or both.

the compromise has already been made - she gets to decorate 9 months out of the year I get christmas....except for her snowman collections those she gets the final say of

Have had two different job interviews in the past two days and have been accepted for both jobs. Christmas Miracles, now to figure out which one I want to take.

Three of my four children are spending their second day in school, went to open house for the youngest last night and he was upset that he didn't get to stay at school, can't wait for Friday to get here so he can finally go back to school and be with his teachers. He is in a multiple handicap classroom and has the same teachers each year so they basically baby him whenever he is around, talk about making my life harder at home, but I will take it because they watch him and would bend over backwards for him(even argue with a music teacher because she didn't want to understand that an autistic child does not understand what a drum beat is.) Also, 28 days til 100 days til Christmas, which for ppl who have been on here for a while knows means I have 28 days til my tree goes up.

My Dad and Mom have a Huge Living room and she's able to put her entire Christmas village out. Her village grows every year. Everyone that sees it is always fascinated by it. :scene:

Thanks for the parade info Pretjah, but I think I'll wait and just get suprised when I tune in. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is a tradition for my family. It's not really Christmas until I see Santa at the end of the parade. :rockettes:

As an unemployed wife at the moment, I spend 99% of my waking time in the kitchen. It is my office and entertainment center as well as cooking and eating spot. If you have room, go for it! Maybe she wants it to be where she can enjoy it the most. Outside Christmas decorations are for passersby, inside decoration are for the two of you!

Happy Christmas in August! :gbhouse:  :snowwow:

In my cousin´s family, they put the Christmas tree up after Thanksgiving dinner! When I grew up, we put it up the day after Thanksgiving. In Sweden, the tree goes up on December 23. I miss having it up all of December, but it does not come down in Sweden until Jan. 13, so that is almost a month. :jump: :treeclap:

traditionally in my family growing up and the first few years of being married the tree went up the day after thanksgiving (or if we went to my aunts and uncles and grandparents the day after we got home)

however i like having it uop the weekend before thanksgiving (or sooner if the urge hits) so the tree can be up while we are watching the parade.

Growing up, we put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving. My wife's family did the same. So that tradition has carried over until a couple of years ago. Now we put it up right after the noon Thanksgiving meal. This takes several hours (Gotta fluff up all the branches). Then the next evening, after decorating the rest of the house, we light up the tree and decorate it. Such wonderful Christmas memories!

I had not thought of that. Not that we have the parade here in Sweden wish I would have thought of it while in the US. I have to rely on youtube for clips of the parade the next day. But, we did buy red balls and I convinced my husband we can put the tree up around November 17/18 for Wookie Life Day and have a Star Wars marathon. Whatever works....

Then we can take off the red balls around the 20th and put the swedish decorations on it the 23rd.
