Where I live in the southwest USA it is not under 98F until January. We have 1 month of temperatures under 80 usually in late January or February So I use fake autumn leaves for Turkey Day and fake snow for Christmas! :snowwow:

Oh, its definitely time you enlightened the Swedes about great Christmas goodies! Good for you! :D

They make gingerbread year round, but the concept of making something and taking it to work to share (unless it is your birthday) just isn't part of the culture. I guess because for so many hundreds of years people lived in isolated pockets. I have to check recipes and get a candy thermometer. Beyond that, I have no idea what to do. :gbhouse: :dinner: :snowwow:

That makes sense Jennifer! At one time they traveled by skis and the item would have been frozen by the time they arrived at their destination. I think its a lovely idea that you want to change that old tradition and replace with a newer friendlier one! :D

The Musical Charlie Brown Christmas Tree I ordered, arrived yesterday at the store. My dear MIL picked it up for me. She decided that since she hadn't bought me a birthday gift yet, that she would like to give me the tree. She insisted,so how could I refuse. She is so sweet! I can't wait to see it! :treeclap:

Mistletoe Misfit--You have a very sweet mother-in-law! I would love to get Christmas stuff for my birthday, but since my birthday is in the Spring, that never happens. I know that you are gonna love your Charlie Brown tree! :treewiggle:

Labor Day weekend has produced an abundance of yard sales here and fortunately I have been to most of them. I have bought several new things for Christmas. I found a great Hallmark snowman decoration and some pretty wooden trees. At the last sale I went to they had a huge box of Christmas paper and they were giving it away. Of course I couldn't pass it up and some of the rolls are brand new. Nothing like getting great Christmas stuff for free.

Just had a nice balcony bbq of chorizo (spanish sausage unlike what you have in the US), grilled portabello mushrooms with tomato and mozzarella salad and store bought sides. Getting ready to see if we can make s'mores on the electric grill. The weather is a pleasant 64F. Bring on the Christmas cold! :dinner: :peekleaves2:

Happy Labor Day USA and Canada!

Pretjah, did your team win this weekend?
I hope it cools down soon. I like to watch football with all the windows open and a cool breeze flowing thru the house.

My wonderful DH and sweet children gave me a great gift. For months my cordless phone has not been working properly(didn't hold it's charge and the display was jumbled). They gave me a double handset. I discovered it has 6 ring tones to choose from. One of those ring tones is "We Wish You A MerrY Christmas"
Now we have an agreement about me not Christmas decorating until November, however we have no agreement about Christmas ring tones.

I was watching on Christmas videos on You Tube today. I was looking at time lapse videos of people decorating their Christmas trees. I love those videos. Go to You Tube and do a search for "Christmas tree time lapse" if you're easily amused like me.

Here's a link to one of them: Christmas Tree Time Lapse

Those were awesome. I sat here for nearly an hour and watch a bunch of them. Thanks for sharing Stephanie. Maybe I'll do my own time lapse video of our Christmas decorating this year.

Oh that sounds SO good. Sometimes the Arby´s in San Antonio would start serving Eggnog shakes as early as Halloween. A little bit of Christmas cheer! I miss those. :dinner:
