We got our early Christmas present yesterday. A 6 month old registered chocolate/white chihuahua male. He's so precious. It didn't take him long to become a member of the family.

The temps here got down to 40 degree F last night. Brrrrr We had to run our heat for the first time. The cooler temps really put me in the Christmas Spirit.

For the first time in weeks, today's Sunday paper had coupons in it. I was so excited. I swear it felt a little like Christmas.

I printed one off for my DH yesterday. He was having Daddy/Daughter day with our youngest. There is an independent movie theatre that is playing A Dolphin Tale. If you printed off the coupon and brought in 3 or more items for the food bank. The second person saw the movie for free. I think it is so great that they do this.What a wonderful way to give back to the community!!!

This weekend is Swedish Thanksgiving. As Sweden does not have a "thanksgiving" culture of tv and movies, we borrow from the American and watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and listen to AIO thanksgiving episodes. It makes us feel that much closer to Christmas!

Just out of curiosity, do our Canadian Christian friends celebrate just on Monday or the whole weekend? Are there any Canadian "thanksgiving" tv specials?

we were at my parents yesterday afternoon and my kids made me so proud.....they asked if they could watch HomeAlone in the other room

Dd watches Home Alone almost every day. She loves it so much. Is has even started slapping her hands to her face and screaming. It's so funny. It's one Christmas classic that we never get tired of watching.

I think it's wonderful that you can donate something and also have something special to share with your family! Our church has been supporting a local food bank and another church's kitchen all year. It's almost time for the charities to put boxes up for food donations too. While Christmas is such a great time for many, it's also extremely hard for those who have to do without. Wishing a plentyful holiday season for those who really need it.

Only 6 weeks left until our Operation Christmas Child packing party and collection week. I'm really excited ( and a little nervous ) because I'm leading this project for our church. We have sent boxes before, but not on this large of a scale. I am really looking forward to the packing party. I know it's gonna be a blast.

the deaconesses in our church put the boxes together this week, so they could be handed out in two weeks (the 16th)

they will be collecting them by nov 16th so they can be delivered in time!!!!

I picked dd up from school and on our way home we stopped by the Dollar Store. We had to check out the Halloween stuff and I bought a solar light/holiday flag holder. It's really nice and it has flags for Halloween/Christmas/Winter. I already put it up and can't wait to see how it looks after dark.

I had a code for Cardstore.com and I used it to order a free personalized Christmas card. Yay!

Today's mail brought me several Christmas related things. I got an ornament that I ordered. It's really pretty. I also got a card from our local food bank reminding me that it time to send in my contribution for the Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives. I got a Collections catalog with lots of holiday goodies in it. And I got a Samaritan's Purse gift catalog. The kind where you pay a certain amount and it's used to buy something that's needed like farm animals or medical related things. This year I think we'll be donating to buy the mosquito netting.

I have a question for my cold weather Christmas friends. If you live in climate where there is snow on the ground by thanksgiving (either american or canadian), do you still have a "fall" decorating theme or have you already transitioned to "winter"? That is one reason we celebrate both swedish and american thanksgiving. If we have snow on the ground like last year by november, I am ready to change to winter decor. Last year the snow came on Oct 22, so early october is pretty "safe".

Tomtemor---I can't help you with this question. We are very lucky if we get snow for Christmas. Almost all of our snow holds off until January and February. I know that for me as soon as the snow started to fly the Fall decorations would come down. We are very lucky here to have 4 defined seasons.
