The town I work in was putting more Christmas decorations up yesterday.
I'm getting more excited every day!

Two houses in my neighborhood are currently decked out with Christmas decorations! I walked to them last night and they were all lit up and it was so pretty. The gentleman who put up the decorations was kind enough to let me go on his lawn and take some pictures :)

Here's a link to a list of simple things you can do to help make a more special Christmas with your family. I'll be doing most of these. :smilecc:

No Christmas decorations around our town yet. :| I know it won't be long because there's a Christmas parade the first of December. I can't wait to drive through town at night and see all the beautiful lights. :lights: :carolbells:

We'll be having our Operation Christmas Child packing party this Saturday. I spent a couple of hours at church yesterday arranging things and seeing what we still need. I have bought for this all year long. I'm really excited about packing it all and then getting to start all over again for next year. :snowjump:

My Mom and my dd both LOVE Eggnog so I bought them some this morning. I'm taking dd to visit my parents after I pick her up from school so I'm gonna surprise them with it. My Mom also loves fruit cake so every year I buy her one from Swiss Colony. It's her favorite Christmas present. :dinner: :treegifts:

I am going to be making 2 hardcover photo books for Christmas presents this year. I have been taking a lot of pictures...now I just need to narrow them down!

I think those photo books are great. We have one somewhere around here. Oh wait, no we don't. That was a gift for someone last year. Oh well. I still think they're great.

Everybody sing!

Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things but deck the halls again now

For we need a little Christmas right this very minute
Candles in the window, carols at the spinet
Yes we need a little Christmas right this very minute
Hasn't snowed a single flurry, but Santa dear we're in a hurry

Climb down the chimney
Turn on the brightest string of lights I've ever seen
Slice up the fruit cake
It's time we've hung some tinsel on the evergreen bough

For I've grown a little leaner, grown a little colder
Grown a little sadder, grown a little older
And I need a little angel sitting on my shoulder
Need a little Christmas now

For we need a little music, need a little laughter,
need a little singing ringing through the rafter
and we need a little snappy, happy ever after
We need a little Christmas now!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes! DD7 hasn't been ill since 8 am yesterday. Today she is starting back on toast. She's lost almost 5lbs and since she only weighed 41, that's alot! She is in good spirits and has a little colour in her cheeks. She loves school and wants to go back tomorrow, but I told her she needs to get her strength back and she can return Monday.

CandyKane I also LOVE Eggnog! Last time I was at the grocery store they didn't have any yet. I am hoping this weekend there will be some available. It is so very close to Christmas after all! Thanks for the frugal Christmas link! Great Ideas! :smilecc:

I saw on the news this morning where Wal-Mart will actually be starting their Black Friday sales Thanksgiving night. The majority of my Black Friday Christmas shopping will be done online again this year. :shop:

It's a beautiful Fall day here. I thought that this afternoon I might get dd outside and see if we can get some nice pictures that would make good Christmas card photos.

Just out of curiosity, do any of my Christmas friends change your bedding and curtains for Halloween, Thanskgiving, Christmas, etc. In Sweden in previous generations, it was very common to change curtains and linens for Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, Christmas and Easter. When I asked around at work, some my age (40´s) said their parents did, but they did not. The 30 somethings said it was "coming back" as they were having their children, etc. We are trying to build up a collection. We only have 3 rooms and 3 windows, so it is not like it is alot. There are some really cute things on ebay.

I finally saw November Christmas last night. That is a really nice movie. Sadly, Hallmark no longer has a scandinavian feed so I have to wait for them to show up elsewhere. Keep me informed of what the great ones are this year! Did someone say something about a new Prep and landing? That was so cute!

Another of my favorite "november" movies is Sweet November (1968, NOT the remake). It does not have a christmas scene though it puts me in the mood for christmas!

I have never done this,it's not in the budget. I have a few Christmas hand towels and tea towels I put out. I would love to have Christmas bedding one day though. :smilecc:

I hear you. I must admit the european "duvet" system makes it much easier and less expensive. Duvet covers are very reasonable, easily washed, and do not take up much storage space. My husband sews so we were talking about creating a series of curtains and duvet covers for each season. for example, red long curtains for "winter" with a valnce of christmas fabric, and one of hearts or cupids for valentine´s day. Hearts and cupids are also swedish christmas motifs (Valentine´s day is not that big here) so that would work for the "swedish years" all the way through. The fabric will be an investment, but this can be a lifelong project adding one or two sets per year as the budget permits. I also had an idea of making "penant type" flags for christmas, halloween, thanksgiving, out of seasonal color scraps so they could be used year after year and not take up much storage space. :scene:

The red long curtains sound just lovely Jennifer! What are penant flags? I like the Christmas valence idea. I wish I could sew!
