Just watched Twas the Night Before Christmas followed by The Polar Express. Two of our all time faves. :smilecc:

We caught the last 1.5 hrs of Polar Express! I hope to see the entire flick before Christmas Eve!

Now I'm watching A Christmas Story. A great Christmas laugh before bed!

When my mother was a kindergarten teacher, on December 6, St. Nicholas Day, she used to have the kids leave their shoes in the hall during nap time and she and her aide would fill the shoes with candy, etc. I had an absolutely wonderful advent book for awhile (lost it years ago  ) that had all sorts of little traditions along the way to celebrate the coming of Christmas. Next Tuesday is Santa Lucia, a BIG deal in Sweden. Many start their christmas vacation then and do not return until January 14. :snowwow:

So Christmas is getting closer and closer, and I'm really connecting with Christmas being all about Christ this year, for the first time! This morning, just before waking, I had the BEST dream! I was walking with two girls *(don't know who they were) and they were looking at the sky, and when I looked up, in the clouds there was the shape of a cross, clear as day, but made out of clouds, and it had a clear space all the way around it, and around that clear space, the clouds looked like rays of light radiating from the cross...and as we watched, the whole cross, and the light rays dropped straight down from the sky and disappeared behind some buildings...at this point I was on my knees watching this and still staring at the sky. And as I watched the whole thing, cross, light rays and all retreated back up into the clouds, and the clouds started moving like usual and it blended right in with them. Best morning EVER!!!!

A little Christmas trivia.....

In the show "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" the Grinch cuts out a Santa beard, but he never wears it. :grinch:

22 million turkeys are consumed each year at Christmas, compared to 45 million at Thanksgiving. On average, each American eats more than 17 pounds of turkey annually. :dinner:

An average U.S. household mails 28 Christmas cards each year and receives the same number in return. More than 3 billion Christmas cards are sent annually. :hohat:

It was a very late day at work today. But it ended well as I drove home in the falling snow. I love this time of year. I stood outside my door and caught snowflakes on my tongue. :snowwow:

I never noticed that! My ex husband was a grinch, so to spite him, I started collecting grinch stuff. I wonder if he ever noticed.  :grinch:

fortunately, husband no. 2 is proud of his Mr. Christmas t shirt and his very weird texas american wife. Too bad I had to move to sweden to find my soultmate.

We had a dusting of snow on tuesday. It does not quite look like Christmas yet, but there is still tim!

It's beggining to look a lot like Christmas,
Everywhere you go.
Take a look in the five and ten,
Glistening once again.
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.

Shopping is complete. But..... I sure would like to find one more present for my wife. I really want to surprise her with something neat.

Anyone have any ideas?

I set up my Christmas village on the mantle of the fireplace today. I wish I could live in there! I can't wait until I live in a larger space so that I can expand my scene. I need to keep those creative juices flowing!
