Busy, busy, busy! Every spare minute I've been going through things and getting stuff together to have a yard sale. I'm even going through my Christmas stuff and getting rid of some things I don't really use to make some money for new stuff. :carolbells: I've got all dd's school supplies and most of her clothes bought. I'm gonna finish up next week. I have a doctor's appt. this afternoon so I thought while I was out I'd stop by the library and see if I could find a good Christmas book. :carollers:

Hej Christmas friends! No news from Sweden this week. I tried my first batch of homemade pea soup and it definitely needs work. I do not believe it will be on the Christmas in August menu! :dinner:

Hope all are doing well and thinking Christmas thoughts! :gbhouse:

That is a great one! Have to add that to our Swedish, Dec 23, Christmas Tree night tradition! I have decided to take the advice of Father Christmas, and have a Friday Christmas! I will put on some christmas tunes while doing my rather unpleasant friday cleaning!

Christmas Crazy, as to the pea soup. It is yellow pea soup which is vastly superior to its green cousin. The recipe has potential, just needs work. I was slightly encouraged when hubby said his mother could not make it to save her life. It is not difficult at all, I just did not let it cook long enough. Patience is the key. I was not sure hubby meant it when he said you cannot possibly over cook it . Now I know. It is not inedible, so that is a start. I am trying to economize our shopping and cooking as much as possible since I cannot seem to get a job. I have all the time in the world to simmer a soup, I, like most, just got impatient to be done with it. Will try again in a couple of weeks.

A minor blessing is also that hubby gets to eat free lunch at one of the schools. So, God´s provision comes in bits by bits. "give us this day our daily bread...." :dinner:

That's a cute one but my fave remains the M&M's encounter with Santa and all the Coke Santa commercials!

Very nice! I agree. The M &M´s are the best. I think I even saw that one in Swedish last year. Will post it if it pops up again. 15 days till Christmas in August and we are NOT having pea soup. I am leaning toward the 3 bean "christmas" chili recipe. I looked at the QVC website, but if they are having any special features, they are not listed so far.

Happy Friday Christmas! :scene:

and with our 3 bean Christmas Chili we can have Christmas quesadillas!

I´ll check QVC on the 24th. that should be fun. We will celebrate Saturday, the 25th since we can be lazy the whole day. I have not decided if I am going to make a dessert or just have a "luxury" ice cream. Hubby has been wanting to try fried ice cream....I keep saying we will do it right before cleaning the fryer in case it is a disaster. I am not sure we can get the fryer hot enough............anyone tried this at home? :dinner:

Just be sure the ice cream is frozen solid! I place them in wax paper lined muffin tins, then dip them in honey, crunch mix, and fry. It's a great Christmas in August desert!!! :dinner: :smilecc:

Just realized the Christmas quesadilla recipe did not post.
It is now crayfish time in Sweden, where crayfish parties abound. I do not really like crayfish, but this year I might try shrimp shooters (sort of like a mini shrimp cocktail in a shot glass, non alcoholic). We will have our celebration next weekend, then it´s Christmas in August, then Labor Day, and then it is only 3 months till Christmas! :scene:

Watched the closing of the Olympics last night - my oldest is a huge (obsessive) One Direction fan and just when they came on the dog (we were dog sitting) started barking. She was so frustrated. It was actually a little funny to watch. She'll be talking about that for a couple months.

Then we went out star gazing and saw a few shooting stars - wishing for snow at Christmas. :flake:
