We had the last of the ham in the last of the fiesta soup made with leftover thanksgiving turkey (from the freezer). Very nice combination.

Dreamed last night I had a job at a year round Christmas store, now that would be a dream job............

and quite a Christmas miracle too! :D

Yes, it's such a busy joyful time of the year to spend with family & friends!

My goal: 5 minutes at CAY everyday. And I try to keep it, but.......life has a way of interrupting the best plans. :D

"Life" got in the way of my plans to start taking down the decorations today. I have to admit as an adult my emotions are the same as the kiddos: too soon!

oh, and don´t forget we always have Friday Christmases all year long!

That's a very nice gift your hubby chose for you! And it came in handy too on your first shopping trip.

We don't have Friday Christmases here.........I think its a good idea though! :D

I was referring to Friday Christmasses as created by Christmas Crazy on this list. At the very least you listen to christmas music while doing your regular chores. But, since there are SO MANY Christmas movies you cannot possibly see them all during the regular season, I am thinking of adding a Christmas movie night to the routine. We shall see. Hubby has not agreed.

Change of subject: I have had Hubby on a once a month oatmeal trial since July. It is an effort to convert him to the joys and health benefits of oatmeal. Now, he says that "January" oatmeal should be white and look like snow..........any ideas? My biggest source of inspiration comes from http://www.mrbreakfast.com. A glorious website! Today we had cinnamon apple raisin oatmeal.I was trying to capture the flavors of mincemeat, my favorite christmas pie.

I think that is a great idea to add Christmas movies to Friday Christmas.
There were so many movies that I did'nt get to see this year and that would be a perfect time to watch them now.
I have 25 Fridays off between now and Christmas vacation. I should be able to work them in.
Again, GREAT IDEA!

Thanks Christmas Crazy. Now we all have a new tradition to add to our Friday Christmas nights~! :smilecc:

Our church had taken down the Christmas decorations since Sunday and it felt a little sad to enter the sanctuary.

I am so far behind on my to do list post Christmas. Know what? I do need to finish the outside of the house, but as for inside? well, just going to do a little every day.

Meditating on Christmas, Jesus' birth, and all my blessings I decided to permanently slow down my lifestyle. It gets so busy with the 'have to dos' people talk about. The time remaining in my life I want to impact people: family, friends, CAYers, church members, and those not able to help themselves. That's my New Year's wish 2013. :flake:

All my Christmas decorations have been taken down and packed away. All except dd's pink tree. It does double duty as a Valentine tree. :smilecc:

CK, that is such sad news.
But that same day is coming soon for me too.
We cleaned out the attic and rearranged it so there is lots of room for all our Christmas "stuff".

Good for you CK!

Early this morning I took down the remaining outside Christmas decorations. The way I twisted the garland on the mailbox this year was a real challenge to take down!

Inside, the front of the house is all boxed up. Somehow I came up with 3 items after filling the other containers?!?!

The tree is the next goal. The kiddies start from the bottom.......a slow process as they almost cry with each one. So Saturday morning my goal is to magically whisk away the rest. The tree will remain.........until they let me throw it out.

Yes, it does feel very very sad. My living room, dining room and family room look so plain. Maybe after I clean next week it will look better. I am short on 'winter' items to replace Christmas decorations.

Since we don't have snow here I've decided to make a new winter siggie with snow! A little Christmasy scenery to carry me through the next long 11 months! :snowwow:

The nice thing about leaving up the Christmas decorations until nearly the end of January is that we can immediately change them out for Valentine´s. Cupids and hearts are also christmas motifs in Sweden. I told hubby that if we move to SA he can put up snow posters in winter in the bedroom. LOL :snowwow:

Well, tomorrow we remove the tree ornaments to pack them away for another long 11 months. Next Christmas seems so very far away.

Then its time to clean! :smilecc:

I am not sure how we are going to take down the outside Christmas lights anytime soon. They are buried until about 2 feet of snow, plus it was only -20 degrees today when I got to work. A little chilly, but it was beautiful out with the snow.

All of the inside decorations are down except for my village and the tree (only lights on it and the angel now).
