I was in the attic the other day and saw all the Christmas decorations stacked neatly to the side. Then I spied our stuffed Santa Claus peeking out from behind one of the boxes.
I had to tell him, "Not yet buddy. Not yet".
He just kept smiling. He knows it won't be long.

:D :santa:

Well, Santa is just a chillin til the weather cools to start his Christmas hijinks at my house too! :D

As a southwest resident, I can testify that you definitely will miss winter temperatures. We often hit near 100F marks! STILL you can decorate inside, Christmasy, with fake snow! :snowwow:

I miss frosty mornings living here ,evryone thinks im mad but i know my CAY friend understand :smilecc: Blessings :scene:

Yes we do understand tinseltown! I miss cold frosty foggy Autumn mornings and Winter snowy days! It tells me Christmas is near! And to this day its what I miss most about living in a 4-season area of the US! :snowwow:

Have had a good day today, was listening to Christmas music on the way and coming home from work. Started the planning of Christmas in July for my church youth group. Hoping that the kids enjoy it and we can make it an annual event. :smilecc:

Hi ksrjreed! So glad your plans for the church youth group to celebrate Christmas in July are progressing. In August, it'll be time to start planning for Christmas! In this heat, I listen to Christmas carols all summer long so glad to know I have another CAY friend who does the same! :D

That sounds like great Christmas fun! Around this time every year I routinely do an internet search on "Christmas in July" (which is how I found CAY) and each year more and more churches are picking up on it both as a way to teach the christmas story without all the trappings of December, and as a way to teach the kids where some of those trappings come from. My former church did the "Colors of Advent" devotion all in one night as a wednesday night service during VBS. It was a nice break and "optional" for those involved in VBS to attend as many needed rest, and as a way for the rest of the congregation to enter the spirit of the Christmas in July VBS. :scene:

Thanks Tomtemor. I'll pass it along to my church youth ministers. Although large churches take longer to work new programs into their schedule, I think it is a great idea to include Christmas in July. :smilecc:

Sometimes we started new things with a sort of "kids camp" for staff children during school holidays. The parents got a break from babysitting fees and the teachers got to try out new ideas with a control group. We also had a small "children´s church" group which was also sort of an experimental laboratory. (evil laugh)

More Christmas in July ministry ideas. I started websearching each year around 2005 when my former church became interested. Each year there are more and more resources. I have also read that some churches do their Christmas mission project during July since people are not quite focused on back to school buying yet and money is not as tight as December.
