2013: 2300 Posts til Christmas

The place for Christmas and non-Christmas chatter.

Thinking of my christmas friends during this very busy week and looking forward to our American/Swedish thanksgiving this weekend. The turkeys are much less processed than in the US and I told Perky he does not have to castrate the turkey, but he must be standing by for moral support. He was not pleased.

Well, just when life is looking up. My department at the univ is being dismantled. There will be a spring semester but not a fall. My contract is up in July. My husband´s contract is up in Feb, so we shall see what happens with that before making any long term plans. Two steps forward, one step back. Needing some Christmas cheer about now............

Not good and not fair! I hope you both find long term employment soon.
Knowing that your jobs may be ending after the first year, can make it difficult to budget for Christmas.
Praying for you both.

It's almost Thanksgiving!

:thanks:

We have already booked the Lundgren Familj Annual Boxing Day cruise and I do not need gifts to have a nice Christmas. Being off from work and home with my beautiful husband is enough. I will have a paycheck at least until June. The administrative cheif said the prefekt will keep us working as long as possible, meanwhile we will continue to work on my Swedish. My admin cheif is in her 30´s and she said "I will not go ´backwards´. Those of us who are a bit over the hill and have been through layoffs know that from unemployment, having any job is considered "uphill". I guess I would rather have gotten the news now that closer to Christmas. We will probably still do the things we like (go out to eat for a traditional Swedish Christmas and to the Lebanese "christmas" dinner across the street), but then it is back to being frugal. "living a little" as my hubby says was nice while it lasted. He will find out about his job in February.

Hej Christmas Crazy! Where is my countdown?

Two days till Swedish Thanksgiving! We will cook the turkey tomorrow and have the big meal. Then leftovers after church on Sunday. So much easier that way. You know, I now wonder how my mother and grandmother did it........do the cooking, decorating, etc and then still have time to get themselves dressed and looking nice. NOt possible. The table may be decked out, but we will be in "at home" clothes. We even bought turkey "gourmet" cat food for the cats.

Merry Friday Christmas!

Jolly, I can tell when you say "I wonder how", that you have some fond holiday memories with your family. I love this time of year when we remember good times from the past and create new memories for the future. You guys are creating memories now, that will last a lifetime.
I wish you both a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!!!

Merry Friday Christmas!

After a day of hell at work, I am really looking forward to some time off at Christmas. I do not need to love my job, I just need to not hate it, and we are getting very close to that line. Trying to think some good Christmas thoughts while listening to Christmas OTR on the mp3.

The turkey has been cooked, eaten, deboned, and the bags of shredded turkey put away. The carrot cake is on the balcony cooling. It has been a good day, but I am tired. Tomorrow we will go to church and then have leftover sandwiches for lunch.
Wishing all my Canadian Christmas friends a Happy Thanksgiving!
