Oh yes! We do.
My daughter KK (17) still loves to carve a pumpkin. We set out a few pumpkins and some mums on the front porch for fall decorations.

Wishing all my Canadian Christmas friends a Happy Thanksgiving!
:thanks: :rake: :leafjump:

I can't wait to get some turkey! That sounds so good.

I brought some "leaf" material with me that we have made a tablecloth, curtains, and placemats out of. Someday I will make napkins with the rest of it. We use that for the official "thanksgiving meal", so we got it out yesterday. I will pull it this week and then we use just placemats with the pumpkin melamine dishes we got last year for the rest of October and November. The "once a year" plates will go back in the cabinet today. They are the only china I own and have a turkey motif. On the table is a bowl of fake gourds I got at either the dollar store or Hobby Lobby before I left. I have a few collectables packed away, but no place to put them out here. Halloween and Thanksgiving sort of get thrown together here into "Höstfest" literally Fall Fest, and we have witches at easter. Every year there is more and more "halloween" decorations. One of the reasons we started having the big thanksgiving meal in October is so we can decorate slowly for Advent. First Advent is a big deal in Sweden and if we had Thanskgiving on Saturday (as my cousin does in Belgium), since Thursday is a regular workday, it was tough to make and eat a big dinner and then change to be ready for First Advent. I did not like eating "thanksgiving" with Christmas decorations around. Now, we take our time and bring things out slowly in November and have a "little" dinner on the weekend of First Advent. Last year I used some of the shredded turkey and made a casserole so it felt like both Thanskgiving and Christmas.

Thanks! Though no relaxing here. Still have regular weekend chores to do. With a 1 hour commute it turns my 8 hours days into 10 hour days and there is no "evening" left to do stuff. So we have to cram it all in on the weekends. We worked hard last week on the heavy chores, like bedding laundry and litter box change out, so this weekend is "light", but still has to be done. ON the plus side, I got a few peeks at Love at the Thanskgiving Parade while I have been working. It looks so cute, definitely on my Christmas list! :shop: :thanks: :rake: :cheer:

I miss this time of year in the US. So after a great thanksgiving weekend, it is back to a job that has become a living hell. Trying to think good Christmas thoughts.

I think wikipedia has its own translator, but if not, you can translate it using www.google.com/translate. It is always the 2nd Sunday of October which USUALLY but not always makes it the same weekend as Canadian Thanksgiving. Last year or the year before it was "off" due to October 1 being on a Monday (I think). You are such a good Christmas friend!
