Merry Christmas Weekend! :smilecc:

This last weekend before Christmas is going to be a quiet one in our household. Lots of hot cocoa [even if it is near 70F and sunny outside], Christmas movies and some treats! Sunday is filled with the joy of church relationships and celebrating Jesus.

Wishing all of you a blessed weekend. :D

Merry 4th Advent! We are celebrating by continuing the Christmas cleaning and prep. Have to check my recipes and make grocery list for the last shopping trip before Christmas tomorrow. When I first got here in 2008, stores were still closing at noon on 23 december and stayed closed until dec 27, so you had to stock up. I noticed this year that they are open evey day including christmas eve and christmas day, somehow it ruins part of the magic and I feel sorry for those who have to work. If we are not working, we still try to stock up and observe the "old" custom of not shopping on those days.

The Lebanese dinner was good last night. Unfortunately, our neighbor was sick and could not join us. If we move to the US, we have to ask them for recipes.

Glad Lilla Julafton! We have done the last minute shopping, the tree is up but not decorated yet, the ham is in the sink, but I am not sure if I will cook it today or tomorrow. I do not see the big rush in cooking it today. We will be fixing deviled eggs and carrot salad today as those tastes better after they have set awhile. We just got through watching The Night Before The Night Before Christmas. That is a cute movie! I have not had much time for movie watching this year. Were there any big releases or any good made for tv movies we should watch out for? My distant relative in Santa Claus, IN said they have just finished filming a christmas movie there that should be out next year. Have to check back on the name of it. It starts in Austin, TX, so that is a double must for us. Hope all my Christmas friends are enjoying their last minute preparations. It is so nice to think we do not have to leave the apartment until church Christmas morning.

hm........cream cheese and smoked salmon crackers sounds very swedish. Carrot cucumber dip sounds intriguing. Be sure to post recipes after the holiday rush is over. Trying new things at Christmas is always so much fun!

My deviled eggs and carrot raisin salad are made. My work is done. About to make eggnog. I decided Perky´s suggestion of pizza delivery was a good one. Pizza and eggnog. Does it get any better? :dinner:

Thanks to Jollys' reminder I just placed the turkey in the refrigerator to thaw! :D

Tomorrow I'm going to make some side dishes ahead of time so I can just reheat before going to my sister's house Christmas Day. I've found Paula Deen's recipe for Green Bean Casserole and added my own touches. And of course Christmas cookies need to be decorated!

Most of all I am grateful for the joy of knowing my Lord. :smilecc:

the christmas ham is now in the oven, the cranberry glaze is on the stove. It´s beginning to feel like Christmas! Watching Ebbie on Yoututbe.

I LOVE green bean casserole, but I just can´t make it. Yes, I know it should be easy.....

wishing all my Christmas friends a glorious Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!

I was just thinking I feel less stress than the years I have not been working. I think actually having money makes it nice. We splurged on a GREAT meal last night. Much more than we should have spent for a weeknight meal, but it was nice knowing we "could". I also think making the pumpkin mincemeat tarts early helped alot. I would not make this recipe again, but making them early and freezing is a great relief. We are now cooking meatballs, crown sausage and potatoes for the Christmas smörgåsbord. Then it is early to bed because the alarm will go off at 5:15 a.m. for Julotta. The early Christmas day worship service. This I could happily miss, but Perky likes it, and we get breakfast!

Actually, I did not make it last night. We wound up going out to eat instead, but there is still many more days of Christmas left to enjoy it.
