I always try to find ways to make "undecorating" fun, but not always successful. We usually play christmas music and the past couple of years I have made a special snack mix: it seems like there should be more festive ideas........... :scene:

Exactly! Jolly I do the same thing: play Christmas radio loudly as I sort, wrap & pack up Christmas decorations! I miss the Christmas movies & songs. I cannot watch a movie & work.......so I sing along loudly with my fave Christmas tunes. It makes the heart lighter, and the work go faster. My DH says I model Mary Poppins "a spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down!"

I have a fave collage photo surrounded by words about family & memories. I removed the wintry photos today and inserted beloved photos of my parents. One of my mother's engagement photo for the Indianapolis Star; one of my father's high school yearbook; their honeymoon photo and the last picture of them Christmas 2007 [snapshot at my sister's house]. The glow of Christmas resonates in my heart whenever I look at the frame! :smilecc:

Happy Saturday! Time to readjust to a house without Christmas decorations and prepare for a new year. :D

We still have Christmas decorations, but time to adjust to a work prep weekend and a return to work routine. January will be a busy month as I assume new responsibilities without any additional time added to my schedule. I am still 75%. Praying 2014 will bring fulltime permanent employment! :scene:

Tomorrow is the first day at my new job. It was like an early Christmas present this past year. As always, it is going to take me a while to get used to writing 2014, but it is an exciting new start. Despite the stress from the last few years in finding a new job, this site has been one of the places that has allowed me to relax for a while. I love being able to embrace my love of Christmas 365 days a year with all of you. I am looking forward to this year's celebration as well. :gbhouse:

Congratulations on your new job my Christmas friend! Awesome way to start the new year. Image

Wishing you the best of luck in your new job! We went into the univ today to take care of a few things. It felt weird being out after being sick for so long. I was glad to get home. Christmas is not over until January 13!

I hope your feeling better Jolly.

We took down the Christmas decorations on Wednesday. I protested, but Michelle insisted that she wanted the house back to normal before she went back to work. Today, Austin and I will take down the exterior decorations. Sad, sad day!

Twelfth Night scones are in the oven. Perky wanted some to take to work and while they do not exactly fit into our 2014 eating plan, I hated to NOT make them. A friend said that the cranberries cancel out the white chocolate. I could go for that. I can understand wanting a normal house before returning to work, I will probably start putting a few things away. Christmas will come again!

Just finished a great twelfth night dinner with my beautiful husband. To be followed by more twelfth night scones after I finish the dishes. His family had salmon on New Year´s day and since we have the american dinner on New Year's day, we had Salmon for Twelfth Night. Perky returns to work tomorrow but I have one more day of Christmas vacation. I feel like they owe me a week since I was sick most of it, but I guess it doesn't work that way. January will be the second busiest month for univ admins after August. Here in Sweden, the fall term extends into January and we have end of term grades at the same time we are doing registration for the spring term to begin on January 20. Fun fun fun! It is not quite as much fun as Christmas........ ;-)
