Oklahoma was the last US State to declare Christmas as a legal holiday in 1907. :santa:

A common figure known throughout the world and associated with Christmas is Santa Claus. Other popular Christmas figures include Christkind, Saint Nicholas, and Father Christmas. :santa: :hohat: :santachim:

In order for Santa to visit all the homes on Christmas Eve he would have to visit 822 homes each second.

The tradition of Christmas caroling began as an old English custom. It was originally called wassailing and was a toast to long life. :carollers:

I saw a weather report saying this Fall will be warmer than usual. :| Hopefully it's not right. I love cool Fall weather and cold Christmas weather. :snowwow:

I was really hoping some more of our Christmas friends would make their way home. Hopefully they still will. :smilecc:

Yes it is. I always make plans and wind up scrapping them. Though not Christmas movies, we watched Ice Road Terror and Captain America Winter Soldier. I was disappointed there was not much "winter" in it....

Perky has an appt at the med clinic for follow up today, and I have to go to work on a vacation day since I missed so much last week. If Perky feels up to it, I might make Hawaiian fried rice for dinner.

Merry Christmas in July!
Sweating it out at work trying to finish up before August registration.
I think the heat headaches are the worst. the hangover without the fun. Trying to think cool Christmas thoughts and playing Christmas Adventures in Odyssey to distract my mind from the tedious work.
Christmas in July dinner is salmon and boiled potatoes, have to read up on how to cook for hubby. I think if I just stick to healthy basics good for diabetics and everyone we will be okay. :scene:

Here is a church that had a Christmas in July VBS. Always wanted to do that. The video is very amateur, but you get the idea........I see they even used the advent candles.
We did a "colors of advent" variation one year for Christmas in July as a variation. It was fun, but for some reason lighting candles in the summer is less mysterious. I might consider electric votives and colored containers if I could get them in the right colors.

I had already noticed that. And to make it worse, our academic gods have deemed that Admission round two will be published on 23 December and registration will begin 29 December which means no traditional Christmas week off for admins, or at least conscientious ones. I am already trying to figure out how I can do my work and still take the traditional Boxing Day cruise with Perky.

I was trying to find the "Colors of Advent" devotional online, no luck, but I have it as a PDF if anyone is interested in this variation of the Christmas tradition. Just pm me with an email address.
