Christmas Countdown 2017

The place for Christmas and non-Christmas chatter.

I like the idea of leaving up the nativity until Easter. It would really keep the reason for the Christmas season in our hearts and minds.

One of My favorite Christmas moments of 2016 was going to visit my father's sisters a few days after Christmas. Their houses were quiet and calm yet the decorations were still up and it was great quality time spent with them and my brother and father.

Same here. We sent out a few extra this year. I hope this Christmas tradition doesn't fade away.

Years ago my Mom bought a projection light that looked like white snowflakes falling for her house. That would be perfect for a large evergreen tree and you could even use it after Christmas to brighten up the dreary Winter nights. The light set that I bought is the Star Shower motion light. It has red and green lights and an option to use motion or not. :treewiggle: :treeclap:

Today I'm sitting here working on our 2017 budget, listening to Christmas music, and drinking coffee. Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday morning. :D

That is one reason last year I placed all my nativity sets in our large cabinet in the great room. We see them all year and move the wise men closer and closer to baby Jesus as we countdown the days until Christmas. :D

As long as Christmas lovers, like all of us, keep sending out the cards then the tradition will have a foothold in our culture. Think: Whovilles! :D

This morning I took down our outdoor Christmas decorations. Sad. But in the land of perpetual sunshine, and near 80F temperatures, our house was the only one with decorations remaining. A few houses that have Catholic Charities illegal immigrants keept heir large baloon decorations up until the 12th day of Christmas. Everyone elses house looks like summer..........again.

On a cheerful note, the inside of our home remains decorated for Christmas/winter. Last night the batteries went out in a couple of my snowmen, but I remain hopeful the rest of the decrations will light up for at least another 2 weeks. One month is not enough of Christmas for me!! :scene:

I am putting things away, 1 or 2 at a time. I might take down the kitchen tree sunday and leave the hall tree up until the 13th. though I protested hubby not wanting to bring up the big tree, I find the 2nd 2ft tree on the hall table is quite festive and perfect for small european apartments. I was thinking the 4 ft tree on the hall table Wold look grand........maybe, but we would have to use a step stool to decorate it and neither of us is up to that. I hope to get some miniature Royal blue and gold balls over the next year to add to the Swedish Christmas tree and some texas/western theme mini ornaments for the kitchen Texas Chrismtas tree.
