as of 2016, Christmas in August was still a thing at Denali National Park. One my Christmas bucket list. I was just checking youtube for a performance of Handel's Messiah to watch/listen to on Friday.

Jolly, my oldest son arrived in San Antonio yesterday and will be there for a week. He's staying in a suit with a balcony that looks over the river walk. I am so jealous. I would love to be there at Christmas time at least once.

Oh wow. When we were there, we stayed at El Tropicano. It's a bit off the main path, but quiet. Downside, no restaurants in the immediate area. The bar serves burgers though. Not exactly a budget hotel, but still cheaper than some in the middle of the action. I can highly recommend eating at The Republic of Texas, fantastic food. Mi Tierra's has Christmas decorations year round. and of course, visiting The Alamo should be obligatory. ;-) Hope he has a great Christmas time. The Republic of TExas is shown in the pic to the left, with the TExas flag umbrellas. There is another restaurant called The Lone Star Café we have not been to. Menu is mostly fried food. There is a pub at the other end of the river from the pic but we only had beer and dessert there, so not sure about the food.

Today I am looking for Handel's Messiah on Youtube. We are visiting the IceBar in Stockholm on Friday for a bit of wintry Christmas atmosphere. I will go to work late on Friday and will probably sneak in a Christmas movie, maybe Ice Sculpture Christmas or Ice Spiders. The last isn't really Christmas but it's fun. We are in "winter mode" with our tv viewing. I would love to see the original The Thing from Outer Space. Anything with an Ice Cave. Though it is supposed to get hot again tomorrow, the weather has a nice fall feel and the temp is supposed to drop again on Friday, just in time for our icy night on the town.

The Lone Star Café is across the River and up from the Texas umbrellas. They had an old fashioned "Hawker" when we were there to draw customers in. They have a
Rainforest Café but if he has been to others, like Disney, I would skip that and stick with the local flavor. Makes me Christmas homesick.

Merry Christmas in August Eve! Hubby had a job interview for a job with an outstanding salary. Hoping for a Christmas in August present.......meanwhile we will enjoy our cool night out to the Ice Bar tomorrow. For today, I am as busy as one of Santa's elves on Christmas Eve.
