Spring is in the "air" according to the weather person. I hate to tell her, but its been Spring like all Winter! Christmas seems farther away than usual and the house seems blah!

THEN I got an Easter catalog in the mail and ordered a resurection set. It's like a nativity only is the Risen Lord! My children were mesmerized! So their joy is mine now.

Summer has arrived. We are having a heat wave that has not been seen in Australia since 1900 - we have 4 days of very hot weather. The news readers are warning people to stay indoors and drink heaps of water. The fire brigades are warning of the possibility of fires. We are being told to keep an eye on the elderly, infirm and little ones for heat stroke. Hope it only lasts the 4 days they are suggesting.

We have another month of Summer left (according the the calendar) but it was so late in showing up that I dare say it will continue well into March and April like last year.

I am looking forward to winter and Christmas in July - I am already planning

Stay warm to all those in the ice storms in the US (I watched on GMA this morning - it is on before our early morning news).

Well some Christmas decorations are down, but the tree is still up and the boxes are all still out. My oldest has not been feeling 100 percent (nothing serious), so we haven't been doing much. She's been in some pain and has basically asked (begged) me to read to her all the time to keep her mind off of it. My voice is started to feel it and I'm getting a bit tired of hearing just my voice, but other than that I really love reading to them. Plus today is Family Literacy Day, so it's an added bonus!

It always warms my heart to hear/read about parents who teach their children to read by example! I'm an admitted bookaphile [ :D ] according to my son! Christmas is the perfect season to begin/end with reading a great book! Bravo Mrs. C! :smilecc:

Mrs C I hope your DD is feeling better.

So are you reading Christmas stories?

It is so hot again today - we are supposed to get to 39C (that is 102F)... Poor Melbourne residents will be having up to 46C (115F)... It is just torture here at the moment. Lots of small bush fires around too.

I am looking forward to Autumn (my favourite season) which starts on March 1. THen winter will be here shortly after.

Not this time, have to save those for Christmas time reading under the tree. I'm reading the girls Inkheart. My youngest in Grade 2, her teacher started reading it to them, but stopped at chapter 17 there's over 50 chapters, so she begged me to read it to them. My oldest is enjoying it too. They both liked the movie too.

We went to Swiss Chalet for supper tonight and they still had a Christmas decoration up. It was a big drum with this saying on it, "As music charms the ear, Christmas warms the heart." (Well something close to it anyway.)

At your recommendation, Mrs. C, I purchased InkHeart for my children! There are more books in the series! FUN! At Christmastime I hope to purchase the dvd! :balloons:

Mrs. Claus
I hope your daughter is well now.
Our family also really enjoys Swiss Chalet. We don't often get there. DH sometimes surprises us with takeout though. I have many happy childhood memories involving Swiss Chalet. That's cool they still have a Christmas drum up. Thanks for sharing the words that were on it . Very nice.

My daughter's doing well for the most part, just some after rumblings - thanks for asking.

I've been procrastinating taking down my Christmas decorations, but I know I only have a few more days of the Christmas season left. It ends on February 2nd (Michaelmass I believe is what the next historic church event is called). The girls still don't want to take down the tree. :scene:

I know what you mean about no one wanting the Christmas decorations taken down. Our youngest was not happy with me at all when I took down the last tree. The little one (not yet 2) I babysit came and walked around saying HO!HO!( I taught him that in November) the day after everything was put away. Poor little guy, he just couldn't figure were it all went. :D
Anyone know how CandyKane is doing? Hopefully all is well and her power is back on.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Sorry can't help myself. lol
It's a winter wonderland here. Four days of snow and by the looks of the sky it may start up again soon. :snowwow:
Hey maybe we will have a white Christmas in July here. I can't see how this snow could possibly be gone before then.

Well, we finally did it. We took down the Christmas tree and decorations. It wasn't so bad because the sun was shining and it was a bit warmer outside and the kids only complained a couple of times mainly because it was work and they wanted to play on the computer and Wii. We also had to rearrange a few things as hubby decided to change where to store the decorations. Now it's much easier to access and I'm thinking of making it my Christmas closet and start storing presents in there too. I just need to see if the kids go snooping or not.

Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I have been here. My DD has had the flu for a week. Today is her first day back at school. Now my DS is sick, he woke up with a fever today and I have a sight cold. Luckily I have Presidents Week off next week including my DD since she attends the same school that I work at. This means rest and reading! :D

Britain is paralysed by a bit of snow, Australia is baking in record heat. I hope the sub zero temps in Canada and the States have let up!

It was definitely looking like Christmas here this week. We got a nice bit of snow (well I think its nice. The natives wouldn't necessarily agree with me :D ) and it was lovely to see so many kids and their parents out sledding and enjoying the unexpected holiday from school and work.

All we hear about on the news is how Melbourne and Adelaide are doing it so hot with 45+C and we are sitting here with the same temps - it is so hot.

I am a winter person and love the cold, so not doing well with this heat at all.

Bring on winter I say... Besides, winter reminds me of all those beautiful Christmas scenes from all the Christmas movies I love so much,

Wow - everyone's got some interesting weather this year. I think it will take to almost Summer before all our snow here will melt.

Something I noticed last night is that my next door neighbours still turn on their Christmas lights. I was jealous.
