Seasonal Sightings

Postby Merry Sage » Mon Sep 15, 2008 11:18 am

Today I think I saw the first stirrings of Christmas's approach in this neck of the proverbial woods. The local supermarket had a display of the big tins of Quality Street chocolates out. Haven't seen those since....well, since last Christmas!

I looked at them and smiled to myself............

I noticed a couple of weeks ago a local department store Debenhams has started to put out their Christmas decorations, it's just a small area at the moment which I'm sure will expand over the next few weeks. Also T K Maxx has some Christmas decorations also.

In August most stores 'holiday' sections put out back-to-school items for the kids. They have been back in school for a few weeks now, so the section has turned into fall/halloween. Soon after Halloween, everything will get pulled out into shopping carts to be sold at 50% off and then the Christmas stuff will get stocked to the floor.

At that time, I look for my C7/C9 flasher replacement bulbs...

Target had one row of Christmas out on the other side of the Halloween stuff. Kohl's has also put their Christmas items out. It's starting! :jump:

Out stores, at public insistence, are no longer putting out holiday items so early. We have Autumn items on display and next week Halloween stuff will be added. After Halloween, the Christmas items will be on display.

I like the anticipation because I think it makes Christmas all the more special! :jump:

I am soooo excited to report!!!!
I found a few Christmas items out at Walmart today.
There were about 50 boxes of mostly outdoor lights amongst the Halloween decorations.
Then I got to the end of that isle and what did I spy but some lighted reindeer for the lawn. Also there was a box with a pair of 3 1/2 foot pre-lit outdoor trees. I personally love how they gradually bring in the Christmas stuff. It's like a game to me. Once they put the Halloween stuff out I will go there every week or two and see if they slipped in any Christmas items. :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump:
